Mike Frank and the Irish Eyes is a fine site and they get there article's out that are accurate it's just when it comes to the database it doesn't reflect what was said in the article.

Unless someone else makes a late push for Brice it looks as if it's going to be a ND vs. USC battle to the end. Some of his recent quotes about this past weekend have him leaning toward ND, and some others perceive a set of different quotes from Brice to be cocky therefore they think he'll end up at USC.

That story was great. Brice sounds like he fundamentally understands his position. The other areas he need to work on are workable with good coaching as ND has already.

Scout has re-ranked the Southeast top 150 and Brice made a huge leap and is now the #14 player in the region (which is pretty darn impressive considering we're talking about the SE here) and is right behind our man, Sabino.

If you look at the overal scout 100, that would place Butler anywhere between #40 (Sabino) and #51 (Josh Jarboe) so he should definitely be a top 50 player on Scout. He is currently #102 on the ESPN list.

I sure hope him and Floyd come to ND!

He can say he only wants to play 3 years all he wants and go to the NFL draft early without being ready or has done anything to make him NFL potential. He can do what Darius did, who didn't get drafted. He can say what he wants, he won't leave early if he knows he won't get drafted high, or at all. Let em' say what he wants now because it won't matter in 4 years he can't dictate himself being a first round pick in the NFL coming out his jr. year of college.

It seems like this young man has been told all his life that he 's "all that". If he is "all that" I hope he goes to Notre Dame and proves it. I think coach Weis could teach him a thing or two and hopefully can show him that getting an education and graduating from a top notch school could be very helpful in the future.

You are killing me IK1023, first GBW, now Gerard Martinez, the single biggest homer on the Rivals network. As soon as I saw his name in the byline, I stopped reading.

USCFootball.com Senior Analyst says it all. He has never known a recruit offered by USC who did not favor USC.

If I read it, I'd have to go on another rant.

Seriously though, I am just joking about posting these articles, (although I am not joking about Martinez) keep posting them and keep up the good research work, I'll just avoid the rant-worthy ones.:gbanana:

I would love to have this kid. But something tells me he's gonna end up at U$C or FSU. I want him badly. He's got the ability to become a DB's worst nightmare. I love that about him. If Charlie can persuade him to commit. HELLO!! Future All-American. Catching passes from Jimmy that will be a sight to see if we can get Floyd and him that will be GOOD.

Got this from DD and it was from today....

Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis has impressed Butler with his offense.

"Their coaching staff is ridiculously good," he said. "Coach Weis is the offensive guy so to say. He was probably the best offensive coach in the NFL. They don't have any big huge impact players at wide receiver, so there is an opportunity there. Clausen will be a good quarterback and they will have quarterbacks every year I will be there."

Great find, IK. He couldn't have said anything better, short of pledging to the University, than what he said.

I keep thinking that final sentence is a misprint or something... "every year I will be there..." That's too good to be true, that can't be some kind of semi-Freudian slip, right?

I would be hard pressed to believe that he is anything but a trojan.

I would say he is 70% trojan, 29% Free Shoes University and 1% Irish.

Hope I'm wrong and that he honestly feels that way about ND and truely sees how badly we need WRs like him, but he just seemed very "star struck" by usc.

I think it was more of a "would be there", rather than "will be there".

I agree with Gipper it was more like putting himself in the position if he went there, there would be a QB there every year.

Well I guess we should get ready for defending Butler for the next few years instead of giving him the ball. He won't see the field early there, but I guess it's about the weather and L.A. for him...

Georgia has made the first cut of the nationwide recruiting battle for Norcross star wide receiver Brice Butler, who narrowed his list of college choices to 10 on Thursday.

But don't be surprised if Butler heads to the West Coast.

Butler said he'll decide between Southern Cal, Florida State, Notre Dame, LSU, Arizona State, Florida, Penn State, Oregon, Oregon State and Georgia.

"I wanted to cut down my list because I'm planning on committing in July," said Butler, who has more than 40 scholarship offers.

"I want to get it over with so I can focus on the season and winning a state championship."

He said he receives about 15 letters from colleges and more than 20 text messages each day.

Butler (6-2, 175) has visited each of the schools on his list, except Oregon and Oregon State.

He's planning on visiting the Ducks and Beavers this month, before ending his search.

Before this spring, he had never traveled farther west than Louisiana. Now, he seems to have become quite fond of the West Coast's climate.

"The climate out there is crazy," said Butler of his visit to Los Angeles. "There's no humidity. When it's 90 degrees here, it's kind of sweltering. There, it's nice."

Southern Cal coach Pete Carroll, Florida's Urban Meyer and Alabama's Nick Saban were among the numerous coaches who visited Norcross' spring practice to check out Butler.

Norcross coach Keith Maloof had not spoken with Butler on Thursday, but said the list was about what he expected it would be.

When asked if Southern Cal was the favorite to land Butler, Maloof said, "I try to stay out of it, so I don't have to lie to anyone."

If that is the case what's up with ND getting no love from good wideouts?

Who knows? I think a lot of it has to do with the attitude that many top wide outs tend to have. Let's take Brice Butler for example, by all accounts he seems to be a very smart kid and he realizes that he could be very productive and probably get early PT at ND, but he also really seems to like the glitz and glamor of Free Shoes U., and the U. of Spoiled Children. Then you have last year in the cases of Benn and G.Little. They both complained about the attention ND gave them after they verbaled, and they both wanted to come in and be practically guaranteed that they would be "the man" from the very start.

Let's see all CW has done since he has been at ND is rewrite the pass records with what most people would say were not the top wideouts in CFB, so what would he do with you. Maybe I will make up a t-shirt that has a saying like "Ask not what Notre Dame and coach Weis can do for you, but how many national records you will have when you leave." Something like that, or if you guys have any thing else feel free.
