Im not saying hes not a USC lean, he may obviously but he never once said how he would prefer going there or they lead and he's been there. It's easier to get to visit USC from Oregon then to go to South Bend from Oregon. He'll take his official here and then judge after that visit if he still sounds the way he does. Sounds pretty good so far in my opinion for someone who hasn't even visited here right?

Unofficials are a lot about distance and finances.

They're also about what I like to call "want to."

Maybe Ethan is ready for an official, where ND flips the bill.

Lots of good news here (HT: Sir John at DD):

Notre Dame experience wows Kabongo
By SEAN PATRICK BOWLEY

Apparently, Masengo Kabongo's trip to Notre Dame last weekend went so well, he has put the iconic college football program at the top of his recruiting list.

Kabongo, who attended the school's Blue and Gold spring game, called Fairfield Prep coach Rich Magdon while standing on the sidelines and raved about the atmosphere.

“He kept saying, ‘coach, you can't believe it here,'” Magdon said.

“'You can't believe it. There are 40,000 people here for the spring game. This is unbelievable, people are asking me for my autograph.

“So I said, ‘Who the heck are you?'”

“And he goes, ‘I don't know, but they just want my autograph.”

Magdon said Kabongo also raved about Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis.

“He's the man,” Magdon recalled his soon-to-be senior lineman saying.

Kabongo, who stayed with sophomore-to-be quarterback Demetrius Jones, actually missed his flight back to Connecticut and didn't arrive in Fairfield until Monday morning, when he met with Fairfield Prep alumnus and Temple offensive coordinator George DeLeone.

Kabongo, who could not be reached for this story, told Rivals.com that if he could sum his visit to Notre Dame up in three letters, “It would be ‘Wow.'

"I liked it a lot and I don't have much doubts that they are my leader,” Kabongo told Rivals.

Magdon said Kabongo has plans to visit one-day football camps at Florida, Southern California, Stanford and Connecticut. Florida, Notre Dame, Rutgers and North Carolina are all expected to visit Fairfield during the May evaluation period.

Offer this kid. From this short video, he shows great potential. My understanding is that is is not tremendously experienced. So, if he can do what he's doing in these clips without experience, he'll be a project well worth the investment.

I've seen him play, and that video certainly doesn't show the other side.

Kabongo gets flat out dominated on plays. He'll look like a world beater one play, and then be pushed 5-10 yards away from the LOS on the next.

I'm not saying he shouldn't get an offer, but I think he should be a backup plan.

Remember this guy? Masengo Kabongo. Say that name three times fast... Hard isn't it. Ok, here's the information, kind of old though. It turns out his top three are Maryland, Florida and Notre Dame. Here's the kicker, Maryland is the only team of the three to extend an offer to Masengo Kabongo. It's safe to say ND would have landed him if they would've offered. Just thought this was interesting.

-----Last year we would've swept him up. Too bad, another kid in the wrong class.
