    2022-2023 Notre Dame Men's Basketball

It’s been tough to come up with the words. I just expect it to always get better because there is no way this team, can be this bad. Just no way Brey coaches through this.

Did they really pivot or have they just continued to do what was working? I mean, they did just sign a very good class. I don't really know if I believe anything has changed. Or at least anything of significance. Have they continued to perfect the ND pitch to combat upfront NIL concerns...

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

I don't know who Loy was specifically speaking about, but he mentioned that the staff would take up to 8 DL if they were the right 8.

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

I love recruiting over expectations for numbers so maybe that's all this is, planning for in-cycle defections. But, if they do indeed sign 8 DL in this class, that seems excessive. They've signed 4 in each of the last 2 cycles. They've also added quality prospects. In which case you should...

'24 PA LB Anthony Speca (Penn State Verbal)

Agreed. I think he's a solid program prospect. And, at least at LB, I don't think we need to worry about those for the moment. I'd rather they focus on plus athletes even if they might not be the cleanest of LB evals, at the present.

One of my favorite prospects in the cycle.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the staff has slowed their recruitment of him, of late. No info on that I would just think they might like other prospects more.

'24 NC ATH Bryce Young (Notre Dame Signee)

i was very pleased with his Junior Highlights. Plays a stand up edge role and looks/plays the part. As stated before, he likely outgrows the Vyper role but he’s got the edge traits. In fact, there is one play where he opens it up and chases a ball carrier downfield. Kid was moving.

'24 IN OT Styles Prescod (Notre Dame Signee)

While I really like the members of the ‘23 class, landing OT’s in the ‘24 class seems extremely important. Would be an exceptional start if they were able to land him.

I think Baptiste was brought in the be a starter level snap guy. I’d bet he’s getting 65%+ of snaps weekly. I also think Ford would be a great fit at Big End in a 3 down.

'19 DC OT Walter Rouse (Stanford Verbal)

That’s incredible. I wouldn’t want that here but they are adding some serious quality in that 40

Wow, Oklahoma is putting together some crazy pieces.

    General team info

That peaked my interest, as I had not yet looked at any end of season rankings. So, I pulled up the S&P+ and it has Notre Dame at 37. I immediately regret doing so.

    General team info

Even Marcus Freeman has the Oregon State Beavers ahead of Notre Dame. Not something I saw happening going into this season. I may never live this down.

In that scenario, I think Botelho becomes the wildcard pass rusher of the 3 LB’s. He's probably moved around some. Spends a lot of time stood up outside of Mills. But they could send him from anywhere.

‘18 NJ DE Javontae Jean Baptiste (OSU Transfer - ND Verbal)

In his last year at Cincy, Freeman had Myjai Sanders at WDE but he played with his hand down in the 3 down often. At 6'5 249, he's almost a carbon copy to Myjai Sanders 6'5 255. So, Baptiste opposite Mills in the 3 down base, Rubio in the middle, with Botelho operating as one of the "LB's"...

So, this has got to be a more preferred outcome for Notre Dame and seems pretty obvious why Vaughns is out. I would bet they view him as much more complimentary to Botelho than Vaughns.

I believe there has been a grand total of one person calling for Washington to be fired and he's momentarily not posting with us. Seems like a very insignificant cohort.

Makes an extremely capable two deep with Botelho.
