Gerad Parker - Troy Head Coach :)

There is a huge difference between a guy that produces solid results with next years talent and a guy that maximizes it. I have a hard time seeing Parker as a guy that maximizes it even if the results are solid. The latter is almost a given with the talent we’ll have.

Freeman has the best gig in sports. Nothing is his fault but everything is his opportunity.

Sometimes I'm not sure you can help it but you are literally proving the point. Yes, in the myriad of decisions that went into this, Freeman made 99% of them and then the admin made one. He owns this. I'm glad we're on the same page.

I don't think it's Freeman's fault. Going from Ludwig to Parker, is Freeman's fault. That's the point. The admin took a singular candidate off the table and now the world has burned and Freeman is being forced to hire his buddy. That makes zero fucking sense.

Because not every good coach requires that type of buyout. Not trying to be a dick but I'm truly dumbfounded by this narrative? This was ONE coordinator that had an unusually high buyout that ND has never paid for in the past. But, somehow this time around it's blasphemy Marcus Freeman is...

Correct, to which money and buyouts likely isn't that issue with all of them. In fact, again, Moorehead never got a call. Freeman should own that. Lewis never made it to campus because his offense "wasn't a fit". Cool, Freeman owns that decision. I have no problem with any of these isolated...

Definitely not. Parker is Freeman's guy. It's the whole reason he's at ND.

Similar to Freeman taking over ND. First time HC's don't take over top 10 programs often, if ever. First time P5 OC's don't take over this much offensive firepower that often, if ever. He's got an incredible opportunity in front of him.

Again, you don't go from Ludwig to Parker without ever having a conversation with Joe Moorehead. Or getting Sean Lewis, Jason Candle, etc. on campus. And, not own this decision. It's as simple as that. Freeman is hiring a guy that is very close to him and he trusts. He owns this decision...

Kelly left a lot of holes, lol. The team won, literally, twice as many games over the 3 year period before he left than the 3 year period before he got here. But, I'm sure those holes were really big. Kelly didn't lose to Marshall. In fact, Kelly had the longest active winning streak...

And, respectfully, this non-sense is why this reaction is such. I'm not sure it's because of the admiration and affection folks have for Freeman or the self-loathing they have for being ND fans. Either way, just not comparable in any way, shape, or form. Brian Kelly didn't inherit a top 10...

Respectfully, this is such an unrealistic expectation completely devoid of how it actually works. And, it just removes all responsibility of Marcus Freeman to actually do his job. When was the last time Brian Kelly had the BOT buyout 5-6M in contracts for a coordinator hire? He still won a...

You're pretty much proving the point. And, the program sustained success after the departures because they found other quality coaches. Brian Kelly was insanely successful at ND with the admin being "cheap". When Kelly lost Elko, he hired Lea. Maybe Parker is Freeman's Lea, doubtful but...

Well, I'm not sure I'd categorize all those guys as candidates that they went through. There was never any communication with Moorehead, so that's a choice by Freeman well within his control. Lewis was never brought on campus, also within their control. Brian Johnson was a very ambitious...

I'm just shocked that the ND fanbase/beat is either so love sick with Freeman or stupid to just blindly run with this narrative that ND lacks the fortitude to pay Ludwig's buyout so Freeman is forced to hire Parker. There is a long road to travel from Ludwig not being an option and hiring...

If Brian Kelly can get Marcus Freeman to Notre Dame then Marcus Freeman should be able to get someone similar. He simply has to share in some of the responsibility here. I know this will be a very unpopular opinion but this still feels like the bumpy road traveled of a rookie HC.

Brian Kelly got Mike Elko and Marcus Freeman here. I think Freeman can do the same.
