The way it makes sense to take a QB is if you think Carr is the guy but you can’t bet on him yet because of his health cutting into prep time.
You would also need Carr to be OK with this move.
I know less than you but I think it would make sense for both parties - assuming he wants to be a DT. Otherwise, spending the rest of his career as Bryce Young's backup can't be that enticing.

I believe someone previously pointed out that Bowden was following (former) Cal WR Nyziah Hunter. He's 6'2" 210 lbs. and coming off a very nice year for a freshman.
