“They have a running game. They have receivers. And then they’re really good on defense.”

Fucking hilarious answer. He missed they have tight ends. Their kicker is good. Punter can punt.

Just really detailed convos in the room.

Catching up to all the banter here around the first CFP rankings coming out and it looks like the committee is saying to ND: Beat Miami or Eat 'tarts

Did anyone hear Game Control referenced yesterday? I didn’t watch, just seen twitter and not seen it once. Isn’t the whole reason it’s even on ESPNs website because of the 2024 playoffs?

Funny how that works
That must have been a great year for game control in the SEC.

Don’t agree with the whole clip, but the last point was salient:

“Notre Dame’s schedule is weak because of the committee and what they have done since 2014. And now the committee is turning around and saying well you don’t play a very good schedule”

The 5-6 teams with winning records on IU's schedule:
6-2 North Texas
6-2 Northwestern
5-3 Nebraska
5-3* Michigan (really 4-4 if we adjust for WMU)
5-3 Minnesota

Murderer's row right there.

Guess which team pummeled Minnesota but also got pummeled by ND? And since said team has a losing record, the committee said Nah.

Purdue. The answer is Purdue.

I mean you’re welcome to feel however you want, but I think it’s silly to be worried about the first ranking show knowing how chaotic the first 2/3 of the season has been.

ND beats Miami and goes 11-1, we’re probably in and hosting a playoff game, they lose end up 10-2 and we’re most likely out and probably deserve that fate anyway

Hard to be mad at the consequences of our own program’s actions
We better jump like...7 spots if when we knock off Miami. There will be no excuses.

They’ll keep us behind BYU because head to head matters (but only in our losses).
If we win:
BYU-9
Us-10
Miami-11

Head to head should only matter with identical resumes though. Miami is going to be a better win than anything BYU does, and that loss to UCF is much, much worse than a 4 point loss to BYU away.

Something like this would also leave the door open for them eventually sliding an SEC school or two above us because “gutsy end of season quality win” or w/e the hell Yurachek decides to say.

BYU plays Utah Saturday. If BYU and ND wins, they both shoot up. If BYU loses and ND wins, BYU would drop into 15 range.

Evidently we would be ranked higher if we lost to a crappy team. Lose to BYU and suddenly we have to be behind them. Make it make sense.

they are already getting worked on this BS. ESPN is watching it all; bet on that. They do not want the talk about it being rigged getting too loud so if we beat Miami and run the table we will be in the top 4

The BYU loss was really bad; if they lose again they are out. Only winning evertyhing after this would they slip back in and that is a maybe

Who are “they” here? Are “they” “us?” Or are “they” BYU?

If BYU loses to Utah, I agree they are likely out bc they won’t likely make the Big 12 title game and would be a long shot as an at-large at 10-2. But that is only a problem for us if we are also 10-2. The obvious solution here is for us to not go 10-2.

ND is a bigger home favorite (-7.5) against the #1 team than LSU (-6) is to Bama, Tennessee (-6.5) vs Kentucky, Utah (-4.5) vs BYU, and the same as Ohio St (-7.5) vs Oregon. Lol, this gets better and better the longer you look at it.
