We should freak out even more, that’ll solve them!

View attachment 3065521
I was just using his words on "freak out". Just discussing football on an ND football message board.

Sorry it's not a chart that shows ND upper right quadrant for everything, when people that know football could see ND had some major issues heading into the BYU game despite being 6-0. Those issues obviously were not even addressed at all by the staff. WR usage, CJ checking at line, low snaps and tells, Walton, Premer, No good blitz packages, Zone D, Shuler. Where did the charts call all those out?

I actually do like your charts you provide though, and i hope and am sure you'll keep providing them. I also will keep busting on you for them, from time to time.

Only person that should be freaking out is Pete B that he may have gotten his take on Freeman wrong because after 5 years he hasn't learned. And Pete is letting Marcus write his own check. I hope i can eat some serious crow and he has learned, we smack miami and go on a run. But man, BYU was concerning on both sides.

Its time to let the young guys cook. Potential mistakes be damned. Get Robinson and Buress in the WR rotation. Give Jonaz 15 touches a game. Get Premer lined up wide for 15 snaps a game.
Agree we need to get a pass catch TE out there, if we don't throw to our TE's then why would teams in put a guy on them? We need to keep defenses honest.

and we got to Fire Freeman by 10:30 ET. Productive morning
I didn't say that and wasn't even trying to imply it.

I do get the sense that Pete is not really involved in understanding the what/why that's going on within the program and how the team performs, the way Jack was. Jack after games with BK and MF would be in their office trying to understand what happened good or bad, and what they were doing to continue it or improve it. I just get the feeling Pete is giving Marcus pretty much complete autonomy over the program. I don't think that's good as he clearly still needs some help, that I don't think Pete can give.

I’m 99% sure this is a Carr thing, not a coaching/scheme thing.
I'd say the issue is 75% Carr and 25% Denbrock.

The issue with Denbrock is in base offense he almost never schemes players open, or even tries to. So, CJ is doing all his checks and pre snap reads. CJ pretty much always identifies where he's going pre snap, and rarely is that to the TE. I and others think all the pre snap BS going on is having a major negative impact on post snap reads by CJ. There's plays to be had. The number of passes he's thrown to well covered players is alarming, while other players are open. It's like if he clearly identifies a player is 1-1 pre snap, he's going there no matter what.

The only time we've seen Denbrock scheme something up, specifically to a TE is on goal line or 4th and 1.

Carr loves throwing outside the hashes. In almost every offense, tight ends run their routes to the middle of the field. Until Carr starts targeting the MOF more, nothing will change.

Yep. I think a large part of that is because we don't run PA and the opposing teams LBs get depth easy. When carr does throw it over the middle he does pretty well. He's struggling with the slot fade throw 2 years in a row.

I think we ran what 2 PAs on 50 drop backs. That's just laughable. Maybe some of that has to do with the low snaps? Low snaps and a clear tell that happened vs UNC and Stanford that weren't corrected and continued vs byu, plus no PA, plus gassed WRs..... What shot does this passing offense have?

ND had a better explosive play rate than BYU. BYU won by having down to down success, avoiding negative plays and going 4/4 in the red zone.

There were basically 9 red zone attempts in the game and we lost 7 of them. That was the reason we lost. People can write fan fiction about drawing up more jet sweeps but I think you’re just wasting you’re time and missing the real issue.
That can all be true, and at the same time, they need to be more explosive. More explosive plays are more likely to come from the young skill position players.

The margin for error got a lot smaller with a loss. If they give these guys meaningful snaps, they fuck up, and they end up losing another game let's be very sure we're not out here motherfucking the coaches up and down asking for everyone to be fired.

I mean, why 15 touches a game for Jonaz? Why not 10? 20? 18? It feels like an arbitrary number of touches that is going to make fans feel good. This is exactly what I say when I talk about how these coaches see these guys day in and day out. There has to be a reason we're not seeing certain players getting reps. You can call it incompetence in coaching or recruiting evaluation, and that's fine, but it would seem to me that if these dudes were ready to go out and bust nuts, they'd be getting the reps.

if we lose this game I don't think I can be a fan anymore. The biggest trip of my college career was the 2017 Miami game, I had my bachelor party at the 2025 game, college football is literally the only sport I care about. Miami has DOMINATED us over the last decade. If we lose here we have to start re-evaluating the entire Freeman era. I'm going to need to find a new hobby.

People that want to claim women are more emotional than men should spend some time around male college football fans. Start with this board, work their way around other boards, attend some tailgates in person, attend some live games, attend some postgame activities. Get a real feel for how sweeping generalizations about the sexes are just dead fucking wrong.

There are dudes that care more about where high school boys are going to go to college than any women I ever knew gave a shit about watching Bridgerton or Outlander.

ND, or Ohio State gasp, or LSU, USC, Utah, BYU, Arizona, Ole Miss, Florida, SMU aren’t going to suddenly go from middle of the pack explosive wise to elite in Wk 9. It is in their identity to be high success, middle of the pack explosiveness. But what you can see is an offense like an Ole Miss that everyone thinks is elite, or the team that BYU is scoring in the red zone more.

Could someone like Burress, Walton improve it? Sure within reason. But the “call the explosive plays” type posts are naive at best. They need to finish drives, and if they do they I see no reason points won’t go on the board.

I am much more concerned with the D than the O. The O could have easily scored 40 without a few fluke plays. The D made Bear freaking Birchmeir look like Joe Montana. It is not acceptable to have that type of confusion. Do that against Miami and we are cooked.

You’re not going to the game are you? If you were at the last two Miami games, then I’m sensing a common denominator.

If the defense was playing at the elite level we expected, the offensive philosophy of limiting mistakes at the expense of taking chances would be perfect. But against better teams, our defense has been good, not great. So a more explosive offense is likely needed against Miami and in the playoffs.

I could just never respect Freeman if he bitched and complained about every little thing the way Kiffin does. ESPN absolutely fucked us with that Stanford kickoff time last year and Freeman didn't say a word about it, at least publicly.

and he complained about LSU always getting night games last year lol

Picking a fight over everything with Sankey is going swimmingly
