Us that grew up during that time how the he'll did we learn about the Konami code before the internet, I seriously can't remember. There was that and the other was Justin Bailey in Metroid .
I would go to the book store and look through gamer magazines to get codes.

We had to work for it!

Magazines, word of mouth, and there was a Zelda hot line you could call.

My wife asked me once (only once!) what I wanted to be as a kid when I grew up. I told her Nintendo Game Counselor...
she had no idea what I was talking about. I then show her the movie The Wizard from the 80s amd show her the scene where Fred Savage calls the Nintendo Tip Line and they show the guy in the cubicle...she looks at me and gives me the big L...lol

Had to ask my older brother on this one since I learned it from him and his teammates at the time while playing NES. He said it was posted in the Nintendo Power Magazines first issue back in June/July '88 then from there it was spread thru word of mouth which was how we all got most info at the time.

Wow! I saw one of these stand-ups on eBay the other day for $299 had to make that order.

Dude, that is a killer find. I bought that PlayChoice-10 for $300 on Ebay out of a bar in Kentucky 25 years ago, sold it to a friend last year for $2000 and it needed a little bit of work still.

my brother in law just sold his bubble hockey as they redid their basement

I had one back in the day, but it wasn't a Super Chexx. Our local arcade had the Miracle on Ice Super Chexx version and it was glorious. Most bang for your quarter too if you had someone to play against.
