You can pick an era/President and start your career based on sentiments/trends at the time and then see how you do. Each month you'll get various events and you have to respond to them. As an example, Pakistan lost nuclear facilities to a rogue group and asked for assistance. You can get suggestions on how to proceed, or make your own path. Every month your approval gets tracked, as well as the deficit, inflation, global standings with different countries, your individual state approvals, approvals with various groups from Fox News to the Liberal Caucus and everything in-between, congressional responses as well as responses from everyday Americans like "Texas Tom" and "Progressive Gloria." It's fairly in depth, there's a lot more, but you get the idea. As you can expect, one side of the media paints just about everything you do as rosy, while the other damns you no matter what, and the independents call it either way.

The first "year" of your presidency is free, which is what I played through. I just did the recent Presidential term which is supposed to use current approval ratings and sentiments and it's pretty difficult to balance approvals without pissing off one side or the other. I tried fairly moderate and Presidential responses at first, and then towards the end I started saying "budget be damned" as I tried to wildly swing public favorability by pushing for extreme changes like free healthcare for all (Super popular in every state but tanked the budget) and ridiculous $50k stimulus checks for every family making less than $150k (Surprisingly a pretty poor reception even among the poor, despite only a 2% inflation increase and the treasury calling for my head). Ultimately it was pretty difficult to permanently swing one side to the positive, any gains were generally small and temporary.

I'd be curious to do an earlier era Presidency to see how it might differ from today's politics. Let me know what you guys think if you try it.

Ok, for shits and giggles I did take over another President just to see how bad I could really fuck things up. Turns out I wasn't doing too badly before, even when I went with more extreme changes. I managed to give tax breaks to Big Pharma for a cut under the table. I sold arms to a Myanmar militia group while they were committing genocide against civilians, undercutting China and Russia in the process. I raised taxes drastically to help cover increased benefits and salaries for Congress and their staffers while also cutting military positions and selling equipment by 25%. I then doubled down on the arms selling in Myanmar despite public outcry. Next followed an increase in penalties for marijuana use including fines and extended prison time rather than approving a bipartisan bill to legalize. Finally I sold more arms to ISIS while opening the border. Turns out every one of these was WILDLY unpopular with just about every state and group, but damn if I didn't put some dents in the deficit I managed to lose all party support in 7 months and got impeached.

Fetterman is a pretty good dude for a Democrat, he routinely doesn't carry the water and tends to be pretty levelheaded. it's no wonder his own party doesn't like him

Honestly, it's not about sides. There is just an arrogance yet vapidness about him. IMO, he doesn't belongs in politics.

I don't know his track record/attendance. Staffers are saying he's skipping events, but I imagine they're getting pressured to speak out and get him ousted/replaced next round so they can retain jobs. I'm glad he won Pennsylvania now over Oz, even if he's technically blue. He's called out BS in congress frequently and has been willing to listen to the opposition. We do need more of that.

Legislation needs to be introduced to put an end to this bullshit. Literally just taking their ball and going home. There need to be strict guidelines for when it's acceptable for our public servants to just fuck off and ignore their duties.

I agree. I get that many are working on blitzing campaign stops and squeezing in time with voters ahead of the midterms, but 7 weeks is bullshit. There should be a better way.

Seems clickbait. I haven't read the thing, and while you need just a simple majority to impeach Hegseth you still need 2/3 to convict in the Senate. Even if you get a few House Republicans to cross lines and impeach him, what is the fucking point if you stand no chance of convicting him of whatever he's guilty of? Feels like posturing, propaganda, and bullshit.
