I'm glad they're doing something for Lou, the announcement being so late I really thought there'd be nothing
The helmet announcement timing seems right... however not announcing that Rice (or any game yet) isn't the Lou memorial game has me baffled.

I could be misremembering from 9 years ago, but I thought they announced the ARA tribute before Game Week.

It was the W for Weis and the K for Kelly too during their times. I imagine it's an F for Freeman now though that sounds hard/uncomfortable and I've not sat near the student section during his tenure. 1812 overture in my mind is the "President's Fanfare" for the ND football coach. It's the crowd telling the HC to bring it home in the 4th.

Yeah, I distinctly remember it being "L" for Lou during the 1812 Overture, then the "W" for Weis. I don't remember if we changed it for Boob Davie or Willingham (Maybe he got the W too?). Like many traditions under BK, I feel like it did just die or evolve into a pointing motion or something.
