Imagine being concerned about how big another guy's hog is.
lady, you're concerned about the clothes a guy wearsImagine being concerned about how big another guy's hog is.
Never said I had one just that I don’t have little dick syndrome either like a good amount of ND fans here. It’s almost like IU winning is an insult to your manhood. Like your life is so shitty some non-football school that happens to be in the same state winning the title is just to much for your shitty life to take. Not you personally but those that have this irrational hatred toward IU or Cigneti. It’s almost like get the fuck off the internet and find a life. 🤣🤣🤣
Imagine being so stupid as to think that is what I was saying at all.Imagine being concerned about how big another guy's hog is.
Cheating is cheating...Saban was no doubt a good coach but if he was using illegal means to give himself an advantage, then quite frankly fuck that guy. Did scUM also simply "exploit the rules" with their *natty? If you are willing to defend those scumbags then I don't even know what to say....Not sure how you can defend one and not the other.Saban is the best CFB coach I've witnessed in my near 40 years on Earth. Saban exploited the rules of his time, just like any great coach of that era did (Meyer, Dabo, Kirby). Was Alabama "dirty?" Sure, but every other SEC school was just as dirty, on top of plenty of non-SEC schools. Does that make it morally justified? I suppose not, but to act like Bama was just playing on some other playing field from every other top school of that time (minus ND, probably) is delusional.
It's hilarious to me that this board tries to re-litigate Saban's legacy and poo poo it away as "paying players." All big time, consistent winners (both in sports and the "real world") constantly push the limits, seek an edge, and live in morally gray areas. Such is life.
As for Saban retiring so he could run away and "save his legacy," I think that's rather silly. Do you think that perhaps there is a small chance that, at 72 years old, the most accomplished coach of our lifetimes simply didn't want to have to readjust and adapt to an entire sea change that shook the entire foundation of the sport and would rather go retire and enjoy the fruits of his decades of labor?
Automatic like from me for including the * for 2023 MichiganCheating is cheating...Saban was no doubt a good coach but if he was using illegal means to give himself an advantage, then quite frankly fuck that guy. Was he? Which state or federal laws?if he was using illegal means
I don't think anyone is saying Saban actually violated the law, but facilitating player payments was against NCAA rules while he was coaching. Was he? Which state or federal laws?
Many have. I think that they believe it was against the law.I don't think anyone is saying Saban actually violated the law
So what? It's been my contention, using Augustine, Aquinas, and Adam Smith, that it was the morally and economically ethical thing to do. In addition, all those who argued that ND's previous stance on amateurism was "ND doing things the right way" are silent as we rack up recruiting win after recruiting win.but facilitating player payments was against NCAA rules while he was coaching.
I haven't seen anyone make that argument re: Saban. Even if paying players was the morally/economically ethical thing to do, Saban is a scumbag and didn't do it for that reason IMO. You can say the rules are unjust but can't say you don't know the rules. I didn't agree with ND's old stance on amateurism and it looks like that stance is different now. Many have. I think that they believe it was against the law.

*The NCAA's unwritten rules were essentially:
1. Don't get caught.
2. If you self-report, you get maximum punishment.
3. If you don't self-report, but do get caught, you were a silly goose.
NCAA rules were a joke.
The irony…It's OK that Saban cheated on an industrial scale because most of the SEC was doing the same. This after failing to win anything significant at Michigan State or the NFL.
And it doesn't matter that the rest of cfb wasn't doing it at scale and were getting clobbered by Alabama(including ND twice)in the playoff.
Is that really the position so many of you are taking? Are you even Notre Dame fans? Because you sound like SEC fans. Just call him Lord Saban already.
The .gov used to stay out of sports cheating. Recently they have tried some version of honest services fraud, mail fraud etc. It's obviously a violation of the rules of the sport.I don't think anyone is saying Saban actually violated the law, but facilitating player payments was against NCAA rules while he was coaching.
Now indiana fans are giving us morality lectures? Fucking cignettiIt's OK that Saban cheated on an industrial scale because most of the SEC was doing the same. This after failing to win anything significant at Michigan State or the NFL.

This is where I'm sorta at on this, I think the entire era deserves a major asterisk from like 2007 onward. Possibly back to when USC was paying players under Carroll, but that wasn't "industrial scale.' The SEC escalated by not just paying players but using things like gray shirting, JUCOs, and other roster manipulation techniques that no one else was using at the time. It's OK that Saban cheated on an industrial scale because most of the SEC was doing the same. The BCS Era started it all. Turn of the Century, final days of FSU and The U. The beginning of USC under Poodle and the SEC.This is where I'm sorta at on this, I think the entire era deserves a major asterisk from like 2007 onward. Certainly every championship from 2007 to 2013 is basically fake, and arguably you could extend that further until we got to the NIL era that evened out roster construction.
As far as I'm concerned the only legitimate titles ever are ND'sThis is where I'm sorta at on this, I think the entire era deserves a major asterisk from like 2007 onward.
