... and his final 4 proves those assumptions correct. You can try to be PC all you want, but not every athlete out there will be interested in Notre Dame for various reasons. Even if Freeman has changed "what aisle they shop down," no school will interest every high school athlete.

Which assumptions? I think what's been posted for the most part has been well documented .

Hated Auburn
Loved the $EC
Looking for a Football Factory as opposed to 4/40

Only assumption is him being a future portal hopper but I'm sure that comes from the healthy track record of similar recruitments ending that way. Not to mention that Final 4🤔

I personally think this is a poor example if you are trying to prove why ND should be concerned. It is clear that Sales was not interested in ND even if IU was not rising. ND didnt "lose" him to IU; ND was never in it.

Having said that, I do think IU's rise will steal a recruit or two the state of Indiana. Where will the next Jaylon Smith trend toward?

Didn't even think about this in context of us. Based on how people talked about him and his family, this feels like Bama is falling off the national stage rapidly. Everyone made it seem like this was a guarantee.

ND will nearly always pull who we want from the 260. There’s much greater affinity and program connections in Fort Wayne at this point. Jaylon has and will continue to pay dividends for us in that regard. I’m more concerned with Ohio State snagging NEI kids than IU.

If Sales was a Cathedral kid, or another Catholic school product that we were seeking, I might be a little more rankled. Indy is a crapshoot and I’m not losing sleep over a Larry North guy picking IU. ND will continue to get the overwhelming majority of in-state guys we choose to pursue.

To be fair there is an outside chance IU has 3 first round WRs within 2 - 3 drafts

Considering DeBoer also has produced a WR factory and he’s a Alabama native at heart really that makes it more surprising, and likely that IU was willing to go $hot for $hot to win this one

They will have a good class and will be fine. They just had the greatest/most accomplished team in cfb history. They are being more selective. They recently told Olgelsby to pound sand when he wanted a huge bag. He can enjoy Kansas.

They've also been really busy since the playoff started. They spent part of this week in DC visiting the White House. That's what championship teams do. My notes tell me the last time ND was at the White House, Ronald Reagan was there.

But that could change next year. ND or Indiana could very well be there next year.

Sales had a 0.0% of coming to ND regardless of what IU is doing. He’s an Alabama native who never seemed interested in ND.
