What position group of IU would you have traded NDs group for this year?

1. WR
2. DL
....
QB = no shot
RB = lol
OL = maybe? but I feel like it's a wash
DB = no shot
LB = no

ND was the team that beats Indiana. 2025 will live rent free in my head until we win a championship...please let it be 2026.

Mendoza won the Heisman..probably not miles between he and Carr, but it's not like he's a slouch

I was doing some fact finding and it’s absolutely incredible how both healthy a ton of these CFP teams stayed and how injured ND was last year. OSU, Indiana and Texas Tech have hardly took a scratch. Oregon is the only team that got even ravaged a bit. Miami getting somewhat dinged heading into the Natty. But I doubt we will see a team get as as injured but as far as 2024 ND again anytime soon.

I agree. I'm honestly, not convinced he's better and to base your argument on that he won the Heisman trophy is IMO a bad one. QBs are a product of the offense and average QBs can be made to look better than they are in the college game. I think Mendoza is good and has improved don't get me wrong, but I think CJ is just better and mix in the fact he's 3 or 4 years younger leads me to believe the NFL scouts would agree.

Carr is like 18 months younger than Mendoza.

Mendoza wouldve been a better QB to have this year. Carr needed this year to take the next step. And it was nice to actually use a QB we recruited for a change.

I'm not going to compare the two, but I've watched Mendoza several times this year and I am very impressed with what he has between the ears. That above all else is the key to being a great QB. How he performs in the NFL is yet to be seen, but he looks like he will be better than the average NFL QB IMO.

I'll eat the crow when it comes to what I thought of him halfway thru the year to now. He's a good QB I won't discredit that. Unfortunately, like the last 2-3 decades, the Raiders are probably going to ruin him.

Yep. He's a good QB, and one of those who might actually become a better NFL QB than college (which is funny to type since he won the damn Heisman). But more likely of course he'll a high draft pick to a shitty team and not pan out.

What game would Mendoza have made a difference that meant something? The first half against Miami maybe?
Probably a more experienced QB doesn't read-option away from Jeremiah Love as often as Carr did against Miami. And he had one rough pick in that game. That's about it, though. We didn't lose to A&M because of the offense, nor anyone else, obviously.

Not a big betting guy, but while listening to the Bill King show just now, Brad Powers says he’s picked Texas and Notre Dame as favorites to win it all this coming season. I believe he said ND is currently sitting at 10:1.

Is that the same Brad Powers who was all doomy-gloomy about our portal haul less than a week ago?

I must’ve missed the doom and gloom, but down here I don’t get much ND talk on the radio so Bill King is as good as it gets most days.

Unless it’s trash talk, there’s plenty of that. I’ve nearly called the Finebaum show on several occasions to challenge him or his cult rejects. Not all, but some are insufferable.

Like this...

I sure didn’t see that but then I don’t follow him either. I know he runs a betting site or whatever from listening to the show. I guess a little soon on his part. He’s probably just another one looking for clicks.

After ND cleaned up in the portal last week he reversed his tone & claimed his initial apoplectic reaction was to troll all the ND fans who were panicking. LOL

Hoping IU pulls this out for our boy and former Domer Pat Kuntz.

The Kuntzs are family friends. I just had breakfast with Pat’s cousin on Friday. My buddy’s sister is one of Pat’s best friends…Pat flew her out to the Peach Bowl.
