It's not just the sell out - its the average ticket price and bundled shit games plus season ticket windfall that pumps up numbers on other games. 75% capacity at $20 per ticket versus 100% at $100 per ticket is the comparison needed to bring this to scale. Good for Pete for finding a simple and directly comparable stat for the mouth breathing crowd without getting lost in the nuance.

Along the same lines- SEC is hosting three of four first round games. Selling out their stadiums at premium pricing one more time is worth over $10M just in ticket sales, not shared. True economic impact to each of those universities and communities is WAY more than that even.

The ACC should have seen this problem coming during the season, as some beat writers (e.g., John Brice) did when they pointed out that Miami being out of the ACCCG would hurt ND's CFP chances. This would create a Miami/ND fight and strain the ND/ACC relationship. But apart from that, the tiebreaker rules would hurt Miami and other ACC schools by potentially elevating non-CFP teams to the title game (like Duke). The way to maximize representation in the CFP is to do what the AAC did: make CFP rank the tiebreaker. The ACC could have changed the rules mid-season, right? So it would be Miami vs. UVA, Miami likely wins, and there is no Miami/ND issue.

Instead, they did nothing but campaign against ND, the bizarre tiebreaker applied, and we had a UVA team that was 7-1 in the ACC lose to a 7-5 Duke team in a half-empty stadium, thereby shoehorning a second G5 team into the playoff. This is one of several necessary conditions that worked to screw ND. The ACC desperately wanted Miami in the CFP. Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
lol uva was 7-2 in the ACC but too incompetent to schedule OOC opponents so they played Nc state without counting against conference record

41,000 in attendance at the ACC CG this year. Pathetic. In Charlotte. 2 hrs from Duke...

If the ACC wasn't run by absolute baboons, they would have put Miami in v UVA.

Bet they would have cleared 50k with that matchup. :ROFLMAO:

I question the value of having neutral site CCG when your neutral site is the football hotbed of… Charlotte! lol.
There’s a couple different things they could do, but hitching your big game to Charlotte is not wise.

I honestly can’t believe how stupid Jim Phillips is. He got played so badly that the ESPN/SEC cabal was able to use him to both ensure the SEC got in as many teams as possible this season and to help their long term goal of destroying NDs relationship with the ACC to force them into a conference. Generational mismanagement and his conference will be dead within 3 years thanks to his “leadership.”

"Well, Brayn, anything I say about them will make things worse, so I'm gonna keep their name out my mouth."

I think it's pretty clear that he doesn't need to comment because others are doing his fighting for him. Opening his mouth is a losing proposition at this point.

I want Pete to drop his balls on Jim's desk and tell him the only way ND keeps it's relationship with the ACC is if we are higher ranked than one of the two highest ranked ACC teams at the end of the regular season we get a birth in the ACC championship game.

They had their priorities, Duke had a basketball that day.

Being independent means when the fight starts we show up alone and they show up with ten of their best friends. This is a situation we have known and accepted. The ACC will do what they think is best for their members. We are drinking buddies at best. Given this fact we knew losing two games put us in a weak position regardless of how we played the rest of the season. If the ACC violated the terms of their contract that is something the lawyers will profit from and not the football team. ND has always chosen to fight alone. It is part of the reason we are Irish and are disappointed they were excluded from the CFP. But are we surprised the SEC and ACC as well as the CFP behaved poorly?
Next year will be a new opportunity and I would truly enjoy completely dominating the ACC and leaving no room for these discussions. They are unbecoming

“Privately, Notre Dame has been frustrated for years that the ACC hasn’t done a better job of giving the Irish the prime cut of league scheduling….But Notre Dame wanted imbalance because it made sense for revenues — more Clemson, maybe more Miami and more Florida State. Those games are good for Notre Dame. They’d be good for Clemson, Florida State and Miami. And what’s good for those schools, two of which had already sued the league, would be good for the ACC….When Bevacqua goes out of his way to praise Miami’s season, referencing his relationship with Hurricanes athletic director Dan Radakovich, it’s not an idle compliment. The Irish take no issue with the schools at the top of the league’s food chain. Notre Dame’s maneuvering feels like a program trying to make sure the ACC’s best brands are allies, a divide-and-conquer approach to perhaps either force change in the league or hasten its end.”

Notre Dame’s ACC anger runs deeper than tweets. Will the Fighting Irish act on it?

I hate that we got left out. It's like '93. I'll never get over it.

But, I am trying to find a silver lining in that the fact they had to resort to such blatant corruption to keep us out shows how much the fear us.

I believe they wanted to demonstrate solidarity and did not believe ND would Rise Up. And they wanted to bitch slap the Irish for the gall of being independent.

Every day that passes I get more pissed off,… not less, this is different
Yup. Everytime I catch myself wondering if I'm overreacting I remember how special this team once and how they had a legit shot at the title and all this politicing stole that shot to prove themselves for these kids.

ND media show blow this shit up. This is the type of smoking gun they need. Not this caller but if Phillips indicated to the Pop Tarts Bowl to expect ND that is absolutely something they can dig in on
Nah, they’re too busy getting their panties into a bunch over a miscommunication of someone not being allowed at the bookstore.

Or, writing their piece on why Miami was the right choice for the CFP.
