ESPN SOS:

Duke - 74
SMU - 66
Pitt - 50
Virginia - 79
Georgia Tech - 68

Those are the SOS ranks for ACC contenders that did not play ND. The idea that ND is somehow seeking out an easier schedule is a complete lie. The ACC is bad, it’s really that simple. If the ACC was better, NDs schedule would be harder.
Thats why getting out of the ACC deal would be really good for ND. The conference just isn't very good. The two biggest brands want out. ND is getting stuck playing a bunch of pedestrian P4 football teams with about a 1/3 chance of playing one a good or very good opponent. Florida State, Clemson, and (for now) Miami are the only teams Notre Dame can have any confidence in getting much respect for beating.

And the people using the ease of NDs schedule as a jumping off point to ND has go to 11 - 1 to be in for sure as an at large just are not thinking the obvious step further, any ACC team has to go 11 - 1 to be comfortably in. Miami had a marquee non conference win and it was still barely enough and required blatant collusion to get them in. B1G and SEC that isn’t the case.

It’s an ACC issue.

The schedule argument has always been flawed and it's mostly parroted by people that just hate nd. I have no issues with texas tech getting in and getting a bye. And their schedule was pretty awful. We should just load up with good but not great teams and get ready for the playoffs. And schedule 2 absolute trashcans to start the year. And also ramp up the whiny clickbait rhetoric for idiots online. That seems to work as well.

There was no collusion to get Miami in. They essentially had the same metrics as ND and beat them head to head. The Collusion was in getting Alabama in. Consider this, Alabama is the first 3 loss team to make the playoffs, first to make the playoffs with multiple losses by double digets and the only team to lose their conference championship game this year and not fall atleast 1 spot, despite getting curb stommped by Georgia.

Miami was not going to be in until Duke ruined the ACCs bids. All those metrics and H2H were true before Saturday. Only one thing changed.

Disagree. I think they would've dropped Alabama one just like all prior conference championship losers. That would've put ND 9 and Bama 10 and leave Miami out.

Duke beating Virginia meant that they had to come up with a "creative" resolution to get an ACC team in. Keeping Bama at 9 was the only way that could be done.

Edit:
With that said, if the rankings had Miami at 9 and Bama at 10 going into the weekend, they would've protected Bama and not dropped them.

As bad as a rep as the BCS computer got, it was usually right.

16 teams, eliminate conference championships, and let the computer pick the best 16.
No more auto bids.
No more human bias.
No more "style"points running up the score trying to embarrass teams.
If the computer finds you unworthy, you're unworthy.
Contract out to a foreign AI company that couldn't give two shits about college football to creat an AI program to select teams. No automatic qualifiers, conference champions, group of 5 spots, no consideration of either the AP or coaches poll. Whoever the top 12 are, they are.

Can't see how we can predict how good or bad our schedule will be when we make them 6 years out. Who would have known usc turned into a dumpster fire?

I could argue that jumping Alabama over Notre Dame from 10 to 9 after a lackluster performance in the Iron Bowl was collusion to keep Miami out. They could then, providing Bama lost, flip Bama and Notre Dame, thus putting Bama between Notre Dame and Miami and avoid the head to head senario. In any event the committee dropped the ball. Bama getting beat like a red headed step child in the SEC championship game gave the committee the opportunity to put both Miami and ND in the playoffs, as they should have. The committee was more scared of pissing off the Dixie Mafia than they were Notre Dame.

I don't know if collusion is the right word or isn't but Miami got in because Virginia lost and the thought of a "power conference" not getting in was too much to bear lol

Very true. However, it's one thing for a team to schedule a game against an Ohio St. or Georgia who are usually top 10 teams and maybe have an off season the year you play them than it is to schedule a game against a UTEP or NMSU who you know are dog shit every year.

In all of these senarios the problem is Alabama. Between Miami and Notre Dame, Miami gets the call in that situation, they beat ND head to head, that has to matter. Put the shoe on the other foot, if all else remained similar, both teams 10-2 but Notre Dame had won that game in August, would you think Miami should be selected for they playoff ahead of ND, I wouldn't. All the blustering over Miami or Notre Dame provided perfect cover for the real agenda of protecting Alabama and making sure they got in.

I think we all agree that the primary team being protected going into the weekend was Bama. But then the ACC clusterf*** hit the fan.

If Virginia wins, Miami doesn't get in.

Virginia wins it's ND 9 and Bama 10

I have less than zero faith that if the shoe was on the other foot they would have put ND in over Miami. No fucking way. This is a corrupt system designed to enrich the collective bargaining consortiums known as "conferences." They would have just kept it chalk and let Miami in over us because they would have no compelling reason (a "P4" conference missing the tournament altogether) to do otherwise.

You're correct and that is the reason why the committee should have had Miami ranked above Notre Dame in the last poll prior to this Sunday. I don't understand the hard on people have for Miami, they beat ND head to head. The problem isn't Miami, the problem is the committess willingness to twist in knots to justify a 3 loss Alabama getting in over Notre Dame. I don't think there's a question that ND should be in and how many believe they were screwed over. You wern't screwed over by Miami, you were screwed over by Alabama, the SEC, and the consistant inconsitancy of the committee.

Miami dropped far in the rankings because they had two unranked losses. They only got back in because the committee is corrupted by ESPN and the ACCs pitch to have an ACC team in the playoffs. Its obvious

I can't disagree more. 10-2 Miami 10-2 Notre Dame and ND won the head to head. No way Miami gets that spot over ND. I know you believe that everyone hates ND and the world is against you but the Miami Hurricanes are one of the most despised teams in the nation and rarly get a break from anyone. Again, ND deserves to be in. They are a hell of a lot better than Tulane and James Madison and I also think they would give Alabama their 3rd loss by double digits if they played. The Dixie Mafia is powerful and they got their good ole SEC boys in.

with super conference schedules nobody plays any more than 3 good games a year anyway. Ole Miss played 2 this year, Indiana 3 (if you count Iowa and CCG), Ohio State 3 (if you count CCG), Miami 1 (ND)...list goes on.

Like Bevacqua has said, I don’t have any issue with Miami. But nothing about Miami changed from Tuesday to Sunday. I did not say Miami colluded, I said Miami benefited from collusion.

Play your pod and rotate the other pods. While I'd like to see Stanford come along, it may be tough to do with without Cal and with their ACC contract. In that case, fuck it, try to bring Navy.

"Rarely catches a break from anyone" but also just got moved up 2 spots into the playoffs while they were idle. Sure thing. You seem like a Miami fan so I hate to be the one to break this to you, but one cares enough about Miami to hate them and conspire against them. Miami is a part of a conference that is owned in part by ESPN so you got a boost into the field.

I don't disagree that Alabama's inclusion is egregious and worse than Miami's, but that does not absolve the ACC from all of this. A combination of corruption and incompetence lead to the sequence of events that had the committee give a charity spot to the ACC. Does Miami "deserve" to be in the field? Sure, but lets not act like there was anything honest about how they went from 12 to 10 while neither us nor them played and we had been ahead of them in every single ranking.

ND is guilty of both Pride and Greed. If they were a member of the ACC, they would likely be in the playoffs. This will happen regularly unless you can win big games. Stanford is not a big game.

Clemson fan. Good luck finding a new conference after we nuke the ACC contract and you all have to scurry like rats for a safe landing spot. I'm sure Dabo's fearless leadership will see you through the dark times ahead. Maybe pass the collection plate an extra time at NewSpring to top up your NIL and try to teach Dabo how to use the portal.

Bye.

Would be very fun to see SoCar and maybe others block them from SEC membership.
