I'm obviously not posting from a better place than anyone else on here today, but just to add to the shitpile I'll say that though the style was very different I got the same feeling watching Bevacqua on ESPN yesterday that I did years ago when people were circulating that motivational speech Kelly gave to the Ohio DMV workers or whatever the fuck it was: he lacks the presence this job requires, now more than ever.

Well said. I've been off social media for over ten years, but got a burner X account to follow the happenings around this sideshow. The sheer bile and stupidity I absorbed has only strengthened my belief that Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey are two of the biggest culprits of our country's decline.
The sure overwhelming amount of pro espn anti ND with similar handles and slightly changed but identical messaging shows us the abcespnmouse is now part of the bot network conglomerate seems like Micky and Moscow go hand in hand

Pete is going around talking about how starting next year ND has a "guaranteed spot" if we're ranked in the top 12 or top 14 or whatever. The committee would just drop us below the threshold if they wanted to keep us out. Making this sound like a coup and a meaningful change is extremely naive.

Yeah that’s total bullshit if he thinks the committee won’t pull that crap on ND in different ways.

That MOU was signed well before the events of the past month. I think Pete is well aware now of how much bullshit this whole process is and isn't counting on anything.

The thing is... What leverage does Petey and ND have for extracting some tie ups with Big10 and SEC teams? Why should they agree to do that? Maybe there is some leverage I'm just not thinking about. Instead, maybe they are interested but want payouts in return for agreeing to do that. I don't know.

Ties to ND are profitable. Period.

He's still soaking in the defeat from yesterday.
Defeat? That would be nice. That got spanked like a bunch of virgin little bitches. If we played them and destroyed them as expected we would garner no respect for beating a team that was clearly over rated.

I hate to be that guy, but to paraphrase Vince McMahon, "Notre Dame screwed Notre Dame."

Yes, anyone with a functioning set of eyes and a functioning cerebral cortex knows that Alabama should have been eliminated after their jail sexing yesterday. But, what took place today had been in the works for quite some time. Notre Dame had control over two things - winning their games and making sure that from a media relations standpoint that their point of view and talking points were out there constantly. They coached scared in Week One, lost the line of scrimmage on both sides, and lost a winnable game. In Week Two, the defensive coordinator coached a horrendous game, made some bad personnel decisions on field, and they lost a winnable game (yes, the missed holding call on Hinish was egregious, but frankly, you can't let the game come down to that). Win one of those games, and this isn't even a discussion today. Notre Dame had control over this, and didn't get it done.

The second thing was allowing the pro-Miami and SEC media blitz dominate the conversation while they sat silent. Can't let that happen, and it absolutely influenced the committee. Where was Bevacqua in getting NDs POV out there? We didn't hear from him until the end of this week, and by then, it was too late. They have to be more aggressive in advocating for themselves, and they sat passively and were screwed as a result.

This was a corrupt process. The fact that you can have a committee made up of people with their own (or conferences) personal interests in the outcomes participate in the selections invites the nonsense that unfolded. The only truly fair way to do this is to use the computer/analytic model, eliminate automatic qualifiers, and make EVERY game count equally. Teams should get dinged for playing FCS teams. Teams should get dinged for losing conference championship games, even moreso if they get dog walked. No politicking, no BS, no agendas.

I applaud Notre Dame for sitting out the bowl season, but they shouldn't have sat out the media blitz. They also should have handled their business in the first two weeks of the season.

I think MF and Pete both we naive in thinking the committee would be consistent in their reasoning, and with ND in a good place at 10 (and assuming a BYU loss), they didn't think they needed to go full politician. They were wrong. I think this cycle opened up a lot of eyes at ND about where things really stand. They won't he caught off guard like this again.

ISD said he’s going on Dan Patrick Show tomorrow. I want scorched earth Pete
What do you suspect the approach is going to be? At this point, we don't need to gain advocates who aren't already in our camp, because they just won't ever be. Certainly not the current power brokers. And certainly not with words about how we were wronged. Also, we don't need to make a statement for the fans or decry why now. Most of the fanbase is in the know and don't want the posturing.

My desire for this would be to kick off a campaign where ND publicly declares cold, significant action, not only directly stating corruption but burning bridges with our enemies (the ACC first and foremost). We are not making new friends on the Dan Patrick show. Nor are we making new friends with the power conferences nor ESPN. Of course, politics will likely keep this vanilla.

Even if we don't intend on doing it at this time we need to start floating the idea that we're going to sever ties with the ACC. With partners like these who need enemies?

Suck all the oxygen out of the room and overshadow all of this bullshit.

We should nuke the ACC.

Beyond that, I don't know that we have as much leverage as we think we do. I know that people don't want to hear it, but emotion can't cloud the reality that the landscape has changed. What happened today can't be ignored.

Ideally, we would have some grand idea for the future of the sport that would preserve our Independence while gaining widespread acceptance from the SEC and B1G.

But, those conferences are making so much money now that I don't think they would want to rock the boat by blowing the system up at this point.

So, we either need to continue to fight for ourselves as an Independent and wait for the explosion that's going to create a whole new college football landscape (which, will happen eventually - but, when?) or we cave and join a conference (preferably the B1G if we go that route).

Would love to see him throw out a bluff and say ND is considering their current conference situation. Jim Phillips has worked at ND so I suspect he & PB have an open line of communication And can reach an agreement but publicly he can finally get the upper hand that ND lacked thoughout the entire CFP process.

Yes, this should absolutely be priority one. As heated as the circumstance is, the cut might require nuance depending on contractual obligations. How he speaks tomorrow will likely still be somewhat tame regarding affiliation but I expect some hints. Unless we have been on the case and have just been waiting for this moment to make it public that we will aggressively blow this up. Pete has to navigate all sports which might add that additional complexity.

I don't know. It took that absolute perfect storm of almost every result for 4-5 weeks going against us for this to even transpire today. If that is a different ACC team behind us that we didn't happen to directly lose to they don't jump us. If it's a different SEC team, Tennessee or Missouri falls out of the playoffs. If OU loses to Alabama they're out. If Auburn hangs on to beat Alabama they're out. If Virginia pulls it out against Duke they're in and we're likely safe. If Miami makes the ACC championship game we're in. If the SEC refs call a hold on Hinnish on the last play against A&M we're in. If Buchner could complete a pass 90% of this board could complete against Miami we're in. If LSU doesn't give up a ridiculous 70 yard TD against a putrid OU offense we're in. If the SEC had already moved to a 9 game schedule we're in.

The amount of bad luck we've had is so crazy that I could keep going.

FSU's buyout this year was $165 million. How much could NDs be? Even if it's half that who cares? That's only x4 the amount we made in our playoff run last season alone. Have someone ask Pete about the $100 million dollar buyout and let Pete answer "pocket change".
