So, are Kelly and co. going to pursue him still, or is it over? I know that there are several that think they shouldn't, but I am wondering if there is still a chance because I think ND would be great for Yuri and I think he would be great for ND. I guess what I am asking is, have any of you heard from sources if ND is done with him or not.

I mean in terms of football excellence, you wouldn't include Colorado in the ranks of the SEC, OSU, Texas etc...

They're a state school and yes, a major college, but not a football power.

Boulder is also the pot smoking capital of the US, which is what Jimmy Smith's "character issues" stemmed from.

Character issues "stemmed from pot smoking"? Pun intended? Hopefully, Yuri will "leaf it" alone. Anyway, good luck to him, I hope he does well.

imo, the fact he committed to colorado shows the staff must have cooled on him.

TT in your opinion did they cool on him priot to the tweetgate, or after.

I don't think he was necessarily the highest DB on their board, but if there were spots left, they would have taken him. TJ34 mentioned that acceptance of his commitment would depend on timing, meaning they had higher prospects on their board at the position still in play. However, the twitter thing and its national attention was probably the breaking point.

Sapp tweet:
And now it's safe for me to report that ND was no longer an option Yuri Wright. Apologies for dodging the question. Hope it all works out.

That's too bad. He's got a lot of talent, just didn't know when to stop tweeting....I would prefer him over Standifer. Good luck to this young man.

staff must feel OUTSTANDING with Poole.

There were a few posts in like September/October on II talking about Alford and Poole. Said that Alford and Poole's family really hit it off, and the parents loved ND.

From following Alford for the past few years, you understand how well he develops relationships. Also, you know that if the parents fall in love with ND, we are typically in good shape.

From the recent visit, we found out that it was the "best yet."

I know I've been "trumpeting" Poole for a few months, but it could happen.

Alford + Parents usually equal ND.

Poole or Darby, who is it gonna be... I think it will be Darby. I still like Standifer though, so I hope he just a "silent" commit pending a Spanish class.

If the staff cooled on him like Sapp said, they saw the character issues as a problem. I have no problem trusting their judgment on those decisions. Fingers crossed for Poole.

Well it's not only that. How could Kelly possibly justify bringing this kid in to Notre Dame admissions after he's been kicked out of a CATHOLIC high school for egregious and inappropriate comments on twitter. There's just no way ND would allow it. Colorado is desperate.

From Rivals on the Colorado write up:

Wright was expelled from Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep last week after a series of offensive tweets were discovered on his Twitter account. When asked which high school he is going to enroll at now, Wright declined comment.
