New name on the radar. Irish coaches are trying to get him to visit next weekend. May or may not happen.

Heard Jamie Newberg on the radio, saying he thinks he stays at GT, but has had in home visits form UGA and FSU in the past week.

Only been playing football for a year.

Same High Schoo Coachl as TJ Jones.

From Scout.com:

Kallon is new to the game of football, but you wouldn't know it when watching him make plays on Friday nights. He has great size, long arms, he plays with so much effort, he is very fluid, and he is quick off the ball. He is still learning from a technical standpoint and he needs to improve his footwork and his strength, but his ceiling is high. He has the right attitude, mindset, and the ability to be very productive in college. - Chad Simmons

Anyone see his senior highlights? Their scary good for a kid who's only played football for a year.

Interesting read. Funny how the British press are projecting him already to playing in the NFL.
Wandsworth teenager stands to make £14m a year as an American football star, without having played the game or knowing its rules | Mail Online

Like any British-born teenager, Francis Kallon Jnr enjoys kicking a football about and showing off his footwork skills and agility.

Unlike any other British-born teenager, however, the 17-year-old could soon be earning up to £14 million a year playing American football.

And the strangest part is that he had never played the sport before, has little knowledge of the rules... and doesn't really like it anyway.

His rise to NFL stardom began when he moved from Wandsworth to the U.S. with his mother in 2010.

His father Francis Snr, originally from Sierra Leone, had left mother Rose to bring up young Francis Jnr alone and make a life for himself in the U.S.

But the parents got back together last year and mother and child moved to Georgia in the nation's south.

It didn't take long before the football coach at Francis's new school saw some untapped potential. Of course, it would have been hard to miss - Francis is an imposing 6ft 6in and 260lb, and is a natural athlete.

Coach Tom Wofford, of Central Gwinnett High in Lawrenceville, Georgia, said the hardest part about getting Francis on to the football field was convincing him that the game was worth playing in the first place.
Francis is already a gifted basketball player, and thought American football might be too rough for his tastes.

But, after months of lobbying and convincing, Coach Wooford coaxed his new star off the court and onto the field.

At first, he needed help putting on the bewildering array of safety padding, and Coach Wafford said he was continually fouling other players because he was confused by the field markings.
'It has been overwhelming at times but I just have to know where my priorities lie and focus on getting better. I enjoy giving 100 per cent'

But now he is one of the top-ranked defensive players in the U.S. - with a staggering 13 colleges falling over themselves to sign him up to their teams.

These include Southern Califronia and Stanford.

But Francis has chosen Georgia Tech because he wants to stay close to his parents. He plans to study physics.

He said: 'It has been overwhelming at times but I just have to know where my priorities lie and focus on getting better. I enjoy giving 100 per cent.'

Coach Wofford said Francis maintained a level-headed attitude despite the interest from both colleges and the local cheerleaders.

He said: 'The girls have been coming from all over but he has kept a level head as much as possible.'

And showing that he has an eye for Hollywood potential as well, the coach added: 'It's an incredible story. If he does make it as far as he potentially could, it would be a great movie.'

I actually laughed out loud how bad he made the OT look at the 2:23 mark with a pretty good spin move ala Dwight Freeney

Like his upside as a DE over Armstead.

You know what, I agree with that. Armstead should be a OL in college. At OL Armstead is as good as it gets in this class, but I don't think he is at DE. He could still be very good, but not as much as he would be as an OL. I think that is where he will end up even though he doesn't want to right now.

Excellent video of Francis sharing his personal story with a group of kids (mostly not about football.)

Did they use the same quote twice in one article?

It was a caption to a picture that when I copied and pasted, included it twice for some reason. Since it was just a caption to the pic, I've edited the posting and removed it from the quoted article.

He may be 6'5" or 6'6", but it looks like his wing span is 6"10 to 7'0". He looks impressive and has a nice offer list.

Central Gwinnett plays in a powerhouse conference which includes 2011Ga. 5a state champ/USA Today 4th ranked, Grayson. Competition level is not an issue with "Call me Francis and I'll kill ya"!! Bring on another Ga. boy!!
Stated many times before but Love the relentless recruiting CBK and Co. exhibits!!

wow, I am thoroughly impressed with him and he has only played for ONE year. I am really hoping Kelly offers him. Even though there are other positions I would rather fill right now, if this kid flips, I would be just as happy... This is a beast!

Go go gadget arms? The play seemed to have passed him by a few times in his highlight video, until he turns around, extends his freakishly long arms, and stops the ball carrier dead.

Considering that he has only played for 1 year... I call that the "diamond in the rough"...
Let him red shirt for a year as we should be more than solid on the D-Line. Give the kid a year at Longo Beach and then figure out if he is D-line or OLB material. Depending on his speed, would love that height at OLB...
