I'd hope they would be just as passionate about helping out a troubled kid as they would saving face from a PR standpoint.. but that's the world we live in

It just seems like you're opening a huge can of worms given that offering him can be so closely linked to what happened last year. Remember, part of the Floyd issue this year was that he needed to take steps to show he was making better decisions before he would be allowed back into team activities.

I understand wanting to help a kid out. But what has Yuri done that would merit sticking your neck out like that at this point? Especially given what happened last year. There are other football players out there. He needs to show he can make better decisions first.

I think Yuri will probably be able to finish school at the public high school or whatever, but I worry that the tweets themselves will prevent him getting into ND. Christian Sexual Conduct Code and what not. I personally think that would be silly (as many posters have said, he's just a kid), but I wouldn't be surprised. ND has done crazy stuff like that before.

On the other hand, there are reasons for optimism with other candidates. Darby we know about. Poole apparently had a good in-home and it's rumored that his position coach at UF and recruiter, Travaris Robinson, may leave for a job at OSU with Urban. I personally think that is unlikely, because Robinson played for Muschamp at Auburn, has no ties to OSU, and would get no promotion there, but the rumors are out there, and if Robinson leaves, our chances of landing Poole go way up. On Standifer, I think he's underrated. This is a guy that made a decision early and flew under the radar because he thought he knew where he was going until things fell apart with scUM in December. He's better than he's rated.

Now I know Don Bosco is a private school so they have the ability to expel someone for something like this I imagine, but I doubt Yuri started tweeting this stuff after the football season. He just didn't get expelled until after Don Bosco was named the official #1 team in the nation.

I'm not posting this as fact, but the idea that this may have been in the minds of whoever runs that school is pretty ****ed up.

Still plan to wait for any kind of conformation of any of this...

Sorry to the Don Bosco alum on this board. Not trying to attack your school, but the thought creeped in to my mind and I thought I'd share. Again, I have no evidence that that's what happened, but it's not like we haven't seen these kinds of things before.

Why don't we pump the breaks there chief. It seems quite clear that his twitter actions have only started to really blow up NOW, which would make the timing of his alleged expulsion (WHICH IS CONFIRMED NOWHERE AS OF NOW) appropriate. If recruit obsessed posters, most common-sense less, on numerous college football boards didn't know about it, how would the school administration with much more on their plate?

Can we be rational on this board for a change? What the hell is going on lately. The tidal waves of frantic emotional changes based on simple rumor are insane, and to be honest, really tiring. We could do with more posters like TP, OMM, and others who preach patience and can see the big picture, and who do not act like the world is ending over ever litle piece of unverified information out there.

Hopefully Yuri will learn and grow from this, I would really hope though ND would back off and pursue other options.

Did you also really hope that Michael Floyd not be allowed back on the team? Last time I checked, you don't run the risk of killing someone or yourself by tweeting while drunk.

He's a kid. Kids make mistakes. We ALL forgave Floyd for something that, IMO, is MUCH more serious than this.

I would hope for Don Bosco's sake that there's more to this than just Tweets.

the kid has obviously lacked structure in his life.. I think he tweeted earlier about how he was the only player at one of his all-star games that didn't have any family with him.. I just feel bad for the kid, it honestly makes me sick to my stomach thinking this kids dreams might have just gone up in smoke.. I really wish the best for him because I wouldn't know what it's like to grow up without family support.. must be hard as hell (and he's done nothing criminal as far as I know)

All of this is crazy. Now, this kid is thrown out of a good school, and for what? Because someone wanted to make a story about why he wasn't being considered for a college, possibly?

If those links lead to his departure from high school and possibly lead to his offers being collected by the various programs, then **** them.

I am still behind the guy and I saw the tweets. I don't back up what he was saying, but do I care? Not really.. has he been in trouble with the law before? Has he solicited anyone for sex on his twitter? In 50 years we will all be women.

I can't believe a school would expel you for tweets, and frankly I would be lawyering up at this point. I feel bad for the kid, but while I wouldn't be surprised in this climate that schools would pull the trigger immediately, I have a suspicion that this is just one in a long list of things they consider not good behaviour.

The fact that Don Bosco is a private school would preclude the option of "lawyering up." If he went to a public school I think he would have a great case but...

Either way, I would hope that there was more to this story. Not because I hope that Yuri's transgressions were any worse, but because it would be sad to see so many opportunities blown for a young man with so much potential based off of a few tweets that were made on a private account. The supposed withdrawn scholarships notwithstanding, I wonder how being expelled during the last semester of your high school career would affect his graduation.

The more I think about it the more I feel for the kid. Sure, his actions were unacceptable to many/most, but he appears to be on the verge of losing out on a lot.

Beau wasn't being irrational or jumping to conclusions. He never even claimed it to be true.

and even preached the "patience" you referred to:

So lay of the kid. Also, calling people "chief" is obnoxious. Just sayin'...

The kid is only 18. Been treated like a star, and acted like such. He made mistakes, yes. But he didn't hurt anyone. Heck, when I was 18, I had a few Jack and Cokes and drove my car when I had no business doing so, and on more than one occasion. Now that was stupid and I could have killed someone. Thank God I didnt. And I managed to become a solid citizen with a good career and a wonderful family.

If the kid can transfer and graduate, and if the coaching staff meets with him and feels comfortable that he has learned a valuable lesson, then give him a shot. Give him a chance to mature with the guidance of the coaching staff and veteran players who can help him along. He is just a kid and is deserving of some compassion here.

It's a private Catholic school.

scUM fans are delighting in Yuri's expulsion on Twitter. Literally making me sick.

Aslong as its not something really bad, i could see myself atleast looking into the possibility of bringing him in still. One chance. Notre Dame i think can have a good impact athletically but it can also change people psychologically, at the end of the day , he is a kid., im sure thousands of normal students would get bad press if they had the attention young football prospects have.

I think you should read Beau's post again Wooly. I like Beau, but you're wrong here, he is completely jumping to conclusions. He's throwing out a theory that he admits he bases not on fact whatsoever...a theory that talks crap about a respected Catholic school that has sent us (hopefully on NSD) a teammate of his this year and players in the past. Seriously, why post this theory if he has no clue if it happened. Does this help ND at all? We all know that people from his school and perhaps his family members are reading this site...so again, how does this help?

Look, I can see people posting tweets that contain rumors and everything, but to just make up a theory that talks crap about a school that ND has ties to and that could really help ND, well, I can absolutely see the reason behind Ironman's post.

I'm hoping it's not true for Don Bosco's sake (as well as ND's and Yuri's). Even though they were probably 100% justified in expelling Wright, this could generate a lot of bad publicity for them.

A similar situation occurred at my alma mater in Phoenix (very similar high school), and Al Sharpton got involved. Everybody lost there.

Varsity Aces in New Jersey just confirmed the news... "Don Bosco dismissed star DB Yuri Wright from school Wednesday for comments made on his Twitter page."

I hope its not true, I will wait until Ironman8 confirms the news to believe it.

Just another reason to hate scUM fans. Not justifying his tweet (though I will maintain that he is a kid and kids will do dumb things), but seriously- "We can't have him, so neither can anyone else" is basically what happened here- though it was not by design.

It looks like it is true from who I have talked to at the school as well. Bad news for all involved.
