not that I'm a competent judge of talent...not that I normally have the stones to go against the irishpat(been drinkin)...but dear lord Mike Mayock...if you couldn't see what Jonas did...how'd you get to be an NFL scout?

Look...I'm not saying he's elite, but he's certainly a good enough back to get a look.

Not sure why Mayock thinks he's less than day 2...I know he's wounded, but he's big, and certainly fast enough for his size, and dear lord, tha man can accelerate like very few at his size...

I love Mayock, but I think JG is Mayocks proof ..."see I'm not a homer"...

I'd burn a late round pick on him just to see...kid is a solid back.

I'm pretty shocked that EJ isn't invited to the combine. I think he has as good a chance as anyone not named Floyd or Smith to get drafted. I guess he had a bad season because of his injury but he's prototypical size for a 3-4 DE in the league.

Does anyone know if he has at least been invited to the Senior Bowl?

Uhhh...Harrison Smith?

LOL.

Again, Floyd is the only NFL draft prospect outta this class. Not saying any of the other boys won't make a roster, but Floyd will be the only Domer hearing his name called come draft day.

Harrison Smith will very likely get drafted; it would be a big shock if he didn't. PFW have him as a 3rd round grade; PFW also show him as 5th rounder based on consensus from the NFL scouting community; NFL DraftScout shows him as a 3rd player.

He also is relatively athletic, well spoken, exudes leadership, and (according to coaches) has a very good football IQ. The things that they test at the combine he should do quite well on and help himself in for the draft.

Dude what are you talking about. Harrison Smith is at least a 3rd rounder. Many people won't be surprised if he gets drafted in the 2nd round. Mayock strongly believes Smith will be drafted in the 2nd round. Scout Inc. has him rated #64 overall prospect and #2 overall safety. That gives Smith a late 2nd early 3rd.

Also, Darius Flemming is projected to get drafted in 5th or 6th round. I don't know what you are thinking.

Don't laugh, Harrison Smith will be a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

I remember watching a game this year and Maycock said something about how he didn't allow a single catch while he was covering all year. We are going to severely miss him next year. Did you not watch the games this year Irishpat? Nobody threw on him and he completely shut down his side of the field.

Contrarian post is super convincing.

Hey, Notre Dame extremists, I'm simply saying that no one else will be drafted. And to a degree, no one else would be worth using a draft pick on.

And yes, Gray and Hughes are comparable because both are slow and both served nearly the same purpose.

And Cierre Wood was being VERY kind to his teammate saying "he's just as fast".

Get a grip. I'm a Notre Dame fan, too. I'm just realistic when it comes to the NFL draft and what they're looking for....And Blanton or Hayseed won't sniff the board.

Not trying to start an argument here but did you happen to see grays TD against pitt this season? To say he is slow is incredibly wrong

Agreed. Jonas Rivals recruiting profile lists him at 4.44. He has some great wheels for a big man. He was definitely putting himself in a position to get drafted before the injury, but I'm not sure how the NFL will look at him now since he probably won't be ready for the combine.

I wish Gray the best going forward though. He was an awesome surprise this year. Hope his rehab will make him the same as he was before injury.

Mayock said today that Harrison Smith is getting mostly 2nd round grades with a few 1st round grades mixed in. Care to wager on whether or not he gets drafted?

I think it may be more that Maycock doesn't see him getting drafted now because of his injury.

Maycock takes his scouting job too seriously to worry if he is being a "homer". He is different than most of his talking head brethren.
