Cal's officially out according to the family. It's ND v. Auburn, and I have a really hard time believing Auburn is a serious contender.

Sweet! I agree. I think when Armond and Gus were in South Bend they planned for Kelly to come out one last time go over everything with Arik and finalize the deal

I'm not sure, but I believe Kelly used his in-home with Armstead on the west coast swing after the Stanford game. Even if so, that doesn't mean that Diaco, Alford, Elston, etc. couldn't fly out there for one last in-home.

Or because he was a Cal lean and he is you don't really take the time to weigh 2 and 3 against each other when there is a clear 1.

Kuehnj, why leave off this one?

regarding the Kelly visit.... I am guessing that he already has had an in home visit with Arik - but I highly doubt he had one with Armond... What stops him from going to the house to see Armond and Arik is there??? just saying :)

wonder if Gabe was hosting his visit.

Arik:Gabe, it was real At AU last week, but I am taking my talents to South bend for a national championship.

Gabe: I understand do they have room for me?

Arik: I'll ask Coach Kelly when he is at the house later.

Gabe: Thanks Bro Go Irish!

II is reporting that Sean Cwynar isn't coming back for a 5th year. Think that's good news in regard to the Armsteads or am I reading to much into it?

Certainly hope so, but it goes against what we know. Supposedly the Armsteads are going to talk and pray it over today and possibly tomorrow. If that's the case, they couldn't have given BK their verbal commitment (which is the ONLY way I could see Cwynar being denied a 5th year at this point).

Either way, I find it really odd that 5th years are/aren't being asked back before NSD.

I hope that the tweet he had about Gunner being LSU helps ND's cause....it must otherwise can't see why he would tweet it

I haven't read the II story (so I obviously don't know what it says), but perhaps Sean not coming back may be as much his decision as BK's. He'll have a bachelor's degree from ND, a master's degree from ND, got to fulfill a dream of playing big time college football, and has a hot@ss girlfriend. He's most likely not ever going to play in the League (and this may not be something he aspires to do). So HE may feel it's time to move on with his life.

Of course I could be completely off base and he has a strong desire to come back. If he already knows he's not, then perhaps it may indicate where Armstead the Elder will be attending school this fall, but not necessarily Armstead the Younger.

I bet against this. Unless he's a total weirdo, I bet he wants that 5th year as bad as anything. Not too many players wouldn't kill for one more year at this schoool.

I forgot that he was already in a graduate program. That's a really good point, considering that tidbit of info.

I think it's more an indication of the talent level returning next year, and Coach Kelly's confidence in them. We could see Tuitt move inside to spell Nix on passing downs. Guys like Springman may get some reps, and we could also see Kona possibly slide inside since we will already have a healthy DE rotation.

Perhaps. But I have several friends who are a direct contradiction of that.

Cwynar has had many injuries. Maybe he feels that his body has taken enough of a toll... Just putting more arguments out there.
