I don't think he's been promised anything. Those decisions aren't made until after NSD. Goodman and/or the high school coach may have misunderstood.

Folks,
Do not try to figure this one out. It is not explainable. Well, unless every other WR on our current roster has decided to transfer. I am sorry, but I cannot understand this one.

Oh, I just heard that the NCAA is ruling fair catches mandatory. That explains.

I understand the Goodman may not be THAT great of a player, but what is with all the hate? Maybe he isn't deserving of a 5th year, but the negativity on the board about him is terrible. Goodman, much like anyone we would have had back there, was not able to return a punt because our blocking sucked for returns. If he does come back I expect him to be a good possesion receiver who knows the offense and will work well with the younger guys. Come on fellas today is a Great day to be an Irish fan, don't be doing this to a player that gives it his all.

Exactly. Goody is a great guy, his teammates and classmates love him. He doesn't fair-catch because he's slow, it's because there's usually five players from the other team waiting to take his head off. The reason Floyd broke that return during the bowl was because for the first time, there was adequate blocking, and he only had to shake off one would-be tackler. Congrats Goody

Hes a big body in the receiving corp, he has good hands, is a capable blocker and provides depth.

big bodied receiver that gives depth... I only see us landing one of Agholor, Treggs, or Neal if we are lucky so its nice to have him back.. Its always good to have veteran leadership on the team whether they play or not.

We are looking for another receiver for next year. The other available players on the board (those who have yet to commit) would most likely be redshirted and not play next year. Goodman is a solid team player who knows the system. Put him with a quarterback who spreads the ball around and you may see a side of Goodman that we haven't seen yet due to our quarterbacks focusing on getting the ball to Mike Floyd before any of the others.

All of our receivers (except Mike Floyd) have underachieved through no fault of their own. When you've got a quarterback with the inability to see beyond the first option, the other receivers do not receive opportunities to catch the ball. Case in point. During the last two years, how many passes were thrown to TJ and Theo? How many passes thrown their way were caught? You can't catch the ball if it isn't thrown your way. Goodman, Toma, Theo, TJ, and the others are the victims of being overlooked. They are not underachievers, who drop the ball all the time. Throw them the ball and they will catch it.

I've got no problem with Goodman getting a 5th year. Heaven knows we need some experience at the WR position next year. Even if Goodman isn't projected to be a starter, what other true senior WRs do we have next year? Even if they keep Riddick at WR, he hasn't been there all 4 years and I wouldn't say he's panned out at that position like Golden Tate did. He's a good kid and will at least provide leadership.

I think he's coming back for his blocking. I believe we're going to be a more run oriented team and Goodman will help on outside runs.
