Good lord. I've got a solution for you guys - when 17-year olds commit to ND, don't assume their commitments are written in stone and maintain a healthy dose of skepticism until signing day.

Leadership rubs off on you. I hate to say this about a kid but doing nothing but saying you're solid to ND then climbing in bed with Urban Liar does nothing for character.

It's his life and if its what he wants then so be it. I'm sure he'll be a good even great player but he's betting on a coach who has shown he is a snake and a down right liar. At least our commits will be in a bowl next season (or at least can qualify for one). Its just a shame.

Taylor Decker isn't going to make or break ND. But what I have a problem with is the blatant lying. If you aren't sure, say so. But he just flat out lied.

I have a news flash for you:

Notre Dame will never be what it once was..........neither will tOSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, or any of the other "perennial powerhouses". The 85 scholarship limit, the advent of satellite TV(and the attendant dearth of Sports Channels), and the internet have all combined to change the landscape of college football dramatically. In the 60s and 70s, you didn't have Scouts, Inc., or 247, or rivals.com. If a player wanted to make a name for himself, he had to go to one of the few schools that got on TV often. These days, a kid is famous, nationally, before he even gets out of High School(see Jimmy Clausen). He doesn't HAVE to go to a big name school, in order to live la vida loca.

As for your rights.........a little advice from someone who has been a few places, and seen a few things; just because you have a right, that doesn't mean it is always wise to exercise that right. It's your choice, and like every choice, it comes with consequences.

Oh what are the consequences of me voicing my opinion about ND football? I'm glad that you've been places and seen things, as does every human being. Your opinion means absolutely nothing to me. Thanks for sharing.

Also, there are few programs other than ND that I want to see doing well, and OSU is one of them, if only because I want to see them annihilate scUM every year. We don't play them - who cares?

To start, that program/institution is everything that is wrong with college football. Please reference their recent history.

Notre Dame isn't about belittling 17 and 18 year old kids. Show some class fellas.

This definitely sucks, but on to the next one.

Yep one to the next 3 star...We are going to be lucky to get 20 kids this yr lol... O-well Michigan beat us on and off the field, now USC will have a top class...Perfect we will have no chance at winning without more talented athletes.

17 and 18 year old kids can go wherever they wish. They're not accountable to ND fans. If Poole or Shaq decommitted from UF/Cal and were here people wouldn't blink about their character.

I should clarify my earlier statement. I don't care if OSU does well, except against scUM. But yeah, I know a lot of people don't like OSU, I just am totally ambivalent toward them unless ND plays them or when they play michigan. But seriously, if a recruit decommits and goes elsewhere, wouldn't you prefer to them to go to a school that ND doesn't play and also plays one of our most hated rivals?

I can't tell if you are sarcastic when you say on the the next... If you think that sitting at home and licking wounds over losing a recruit is going to make our program any better than youre simply wrong.

Now if you are serious about moving on, then disregard that last comment.

This sucks! This time last week we couldn't fit all the top guys. Now it seems like we be bringing back a lot of fifth years.

Wow! Lets hope this week is much better.

Decker is a good player and would have been a nice piece of this class, but losing him certainly doesn't cripple the program. I don't even think I would want the type of kid that would choose a school like Ohio State over Notre Dame. They can't all be ND type of kids.

I think the bigger thing to me is why nobody can seem to say "no" to Urban. The guy is a pretty good coach, but he owes much of his success to Tim Tebow. If he doesn't come up with another Tebow his persuasiveness might be short-lived. It's strange to me that a guy can so obviously be a weasel and still manage to charm trick so many kids and adults into making poor decisions. I wish I could happen upon Urban right after his heart finally explodes so that I can be the first to tell him "no" when he asks me to call an ambulance.

That's apples and oranges. When you are straight up asked about your commitment (which each time you reaffirmed) and you have said numerous times to the coach who is trying to flip you that you are not interested and that you are not wavering your commitment then this completely changes nearly overnight, that's a little different. If Poole or Shaq are approached by other coaches and they reaffirm, reaffirm, reaffirm, then flip, yes that's grounds for "character" discussion.

Could care less really... Just saying you can't win games against teams with far better players...Look at the teams in BCS games solid classes and multiple 5 stars...I love this team but, i'll Keep it Real and say we Missed out on ALL the elite talent this yr that we needed. Sure we got one ot two, but we need a team offensive, and defensive with BCS talent...

I agree with you, but it's one thing to commit close to NSD and change, and it's another thing for kids to commit early and sing your schools' praises and then flip so close to the day. It's not fair to the coaches or the fans who think you're going to their school to change so fast...

IMO the only real solution is that if, as a recruit, you have any shade of doubt about where you are going to attend or not attend, keep your commitment open. I mean why make it so dramatic? What do you gain other than people like us talking about it 24/7/365?

What's nice is we have Prestwood who has the additional practice experience already, also it frees up our class a bit for a kid like Garnett, though I really liked this kid's size and, at the time, love for ND...

This coming from the guy who says ND will win National Championships for the next 25 years???!!!! I don't get it. We lose a 3/4 star OL and you are saying now that Coach Kelly will have two more years and he's gone.

Welcome to the society we live in. Our politicians all the way down to the peasants all lie and manipulate the words they spit out. I don't think many know what it means to keep their word anymore. Its sad!

Notre Dame is trying to play the gentleman in a world full of inmates. What's frustrating is Notre Dame has all the resources and money to blow away most of these schools but it chooses to be the gentleman! I respect that it chooses to be the gentleman and I also understand that it will take many years for us to win.

That's right. Let's pretend like this doesn't matter.

I mean...it matters but it's not the end of the world. Nice little player. Maybe he'll eventually be a starter-caliber O-lineman. Losing his is worse than keeping him, but what do you want people to do?
