I wonder if this says anything about where staff thinks they are with the other receivers, Payton and Agholor.

Asked him to visit Jan 14th.

Top schools are Arky, Illinois, UK, and Vandy.

Backup plan if others fall thru.

I like that the staff has backup options in case there are de-commits or anything.

However, I just wonder about a kid that is in FSU's backyard and he doesn't have an offer from them.

The Stanford offer is impressive, but the Arkansas offer really stands out to me. They have some big time wrs on that team

My thoughts exactly

Not necessarily. We can feel good about where we stand now but we must always have back up plans. Agholor, for example, has yet to take any other OVs. The staff might feel like we are in great position right now but as we all know things can change in the blink of the eye.

I love how this staff is staying one step ahead.

gotta really use our in home visits wise with nelson. we should send someone down there every time he has an official or gets back from an official.

Andrades closes in on four schools

Lincoln (Tallahassee, Fla.) three-star wide receiver Raphael Andrades is down to four programs and a signing-day decision looms for the senior.

"It's going to come down to Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt or Notre Dame," Andrades said. "I put Notre Dame last because they haven't offered yet."

He expects the offer will come in the next week and he's already got an official to South Bend scheduled for Jan. 27.

Seems to me like he'll be Irish if we offer. Is Kelly really going to take 4 wide receivers this class?

He already has 4 WRs in this class: Greenberry, Russell, Brown, and Ferguson.

Carlisle's transfer virtually assures that Russell will start his career as a slot receiver.

He wants to, but I'd like it if he took four WRs who can actually help the team.

no one knows if he can help or not.. blackmon was a 3* player.. sure doesn't seem like we're going to fill up this recruiting cycle without taking some chances on some lower rated guys

I think this kid is extremely fluid and effortlessly fast. He also seems to have good hands and a lot of "interest" from major programs.

I for one wouldn't mind if ND rolled the dice on this one. We'll see how the spots and numbers play out but if this kid ends up on the roster I'm not going to complain.

I know some recruits fly under the radar, but this guy isn't even a top 100 WR by any of the major recruiting sites.

And he's not fast. He's listed at 4.7something and you can tell he's not fast in his highlight tape, IMO.

Wide receiver is the one position where you don't really need blue-chip recruits. Sure, it's great to have a Michael Floyd or a Julio Jones but it's not necessary, especially not in a spread offense like Kelly's.

Can the kid run? Can the kid catch? If yes to both, put him in the right position and he will make plays for you. Just look at Roby Toma (or Mardy Gilyard).

Considering that TJ is coming back for this third season as a starter, quality recruits like Daniel Smith and DD are waiting in the wings, and we've got a headliner in this class already (Greenberry), I have absolutely no problem with taking some 3* guys at receiver.

All that said, Chris Brown and Justin Ferguson look like superior players to Andrades.

With Russell starting out as a slot receiver, we've already got 4 WRs in this class, which will put us at 11/12 for WR in 2012. We really don't need any more bodies at WR-- just game-breaking play-makers.

Since the 2013 class is going to be so small, I'd rather offer Goodman a 5Y than Andrades.
