NEW NUGGET!!! Darby is comfirmed to visiting this weekend and NOT nxt with bracy and winston. Give a lil better chance to save him now (if he was ever really ours to save lol). BK and Dirty D better lock it up before the trip!

Their defensive class this year is just nasty. If they finish up Goldman and get Darby... good lawd.
Their class last year wasn't to shabby with Karlos Williams, Timmy Jernigan, Nick Waisome, Cornelius Carradine, Derrick Mitchell just to name a few. BTW Timmy Jernigan was my favorite in last years class.

I think he meant Darby is visiting FSU this weekend

Correct, but he also said BK better lock him up before the trip and I was just saying that I would rather BK use his in home after Darby visits FSU, like we did with Tuitt last year.

The good news is that Darby is a good kid. He constantly reminds me of Tuitt in the sense that he was not going to be swept away with the ussual recruiting nonsense. If he chooses FSU it is not going to be because of hype, a sales pitch, or a cute hostess.

The bad news is that FSU is super-legit in track. Darby is going to essentially have to decide whether he is a football first guy, or a 50/50 guy. If you are football first, it does not matter that ND's sprint team is not tier 1. You will tear up the big east (which includes FLorida and Texas destinations) and have the same chance to compete in the NCAAs. Even if he goes to FSU, if he is doing spring ball, he is not going to have the time with their sprint coaches to truely take advantage of what separates them from ND's. IN other words, if he is football first, then the normal reasons to choose ND over FSU or vice versa apply.

If he wants to hone his sprinting at the expense of Spring and Winter football training, and possibly compete for an NCAA championship, then FSU is the place. They have a great program.

However, in the mix is also education. ND is just a better school and a better academic environment. Just like you can do great at ND in track, but FSU is clearly superior. You can do great at FSU educationally, but ND is clearly superior. If education is a top priority, then ND would be hard to pass up.

Finally, there is always injury. Regardless of how serious he is about track, football is dangerous. If he blows out a knee, all the sudden the ND degree looks a lot more intriguing. Getting an ND degree (with that 99% graduation rate) is like signing a contract with guaranteed money upfront. Life is full of risks, and you have to take chances. It just depends on which ones (see Manti Teo).

Ah, gotcha.

My mistake, and I completely agree with you. I'd rather have the last word with the kid

I think the fact that your asking says enough.

Most of my roommates back in ND where in the track team and I have to disagree with your suggestion. The team is and was very good - if I recall correctly they won the big east tournament during one of my years at ND. Most of the guys were top recruits in their states and each year they had a fast group representing ND @ nationals - cross country is highly regarded and the womens track team was very good as well.

I also know that they were very high on ND's track facilities considering they travelled all over the country, the indoor track is one of thr best in the country and the new outdoor track is supposed to be good as well.

Just to add on to this, Track and Football share facilities (aside from the lounge area and locker room), so its to be expected that we have incredible facilities for all of our sports.
