Three SC players bolt for ND??? too crazy... honestly, having a spot for him would be the most difficult part so i highly doubt it.

some thought Prater really wanted to come out here... others thought he was just blowing smoke... his was a fairly interesting recruitment from what i remember...

Could be to KU for all we know! ;)

So everytime USC gets a commit, a rumor pops up about another transfer. Seems about right.

Not saying he is a bust, I have no clue about injuries or anything, but I remember some people saying he was going to have the same impact as an AJ Green or Julio Jones. He didn't play freshman year and this year he had 1 catch for 6 yards. Like I said, I have no clue what the deal is with injuries so if anyone knows that would be greatly appreciated

They don't have any room so yes, when they get a recruit a player will likely transfer.

Sorry, forgot the italic sarcasm font.

They got a commitment from the AAA game. So news of another transfer isn't surprising.

USC runs a 2 WR offense and he got passed up by future top 10 pick robert woods and rojo was entenched. Then you have marquis lee who is another future 1st rounder and he passes him up. So now he's looking at not seeing the field again this year and finally maybe seeing the field as a RS junior ... and USC is already at their limit... if there is a time for him to get pushed out or leave on his own accord it is right now or never.

So besides the fact it'd be a great time to transfer are there any substance to these rumors?

It's crazy to realize USC's roster status when we're all gushing over these former prized recruits potentially transferring to ND. USC is ok with kicking them out the door because their spots are just being filled with more 4 and 5 star recruits. The talent throughout that roster is sickening.

Prater and Daniels do not like each other....at all. In fact I was told that if Prater went to ND that Daniels would of went somewhere else. That is what i heard from a respected poster on another site. So TIFWIW.

USC was definitely NOT ok with losing Amir Carlisle when he was their likely #2 back coming into this year and their #1 guy is very injury prone. As for Prater, if he does transfer expect it to be down a level... and then probably end up at MSU in 2the years like every other midwest JUCO.

If that is the case for not liking each other, I love what Daniels has to offer. Go DD, I can't wait to see you line-up for us. And coming in hungry from the redshirt season!!!

Since we struck out with Westerkamp, would you allow for Prater to transfer if you had the choice? I mean, if I recall correctly, when playing the numbers game, we were under the assumption that Westerkamp was a flip...Westerkamp/Neal or Agholor could easily now be Prater/Neal or Agholor...

Bout damn time you got involved again. Some of the insiders need a breather.

@Scott_Schrader had received word earlier from multiple sources that Kyle Prater was transferring from USC and reported on FightOn247.. Still early on, so no word if that means he'll revisit his recruitment from Notre Dame yet.

Don't they have to release him to be on scholarship somewhere else? I always thought a kid could leave without being release but couldn't be on scholorship for the year he sits out... i.e. pay his own way for a year.

I believe that to be true. If USC would not release him to school X and he really wanted to go to school X he could still go there but just have to pay his way for the redshirt year.

If I remember well he really like Charlie... what are the odds KU gets it's fourth former 5 star player ?

Not saying this is the case with Prater because I doubt it is, but a hypothetical for you: If a school is oversigning, thereby requiring a corresponding # of current players to need to transfer, do these kids still need to be released from their scholarship in order to transfer to their school of choice without sitting out a year?

FWIW... I was listening to a USC podcast at the gym today and they were discussing the Amir transfer. They hinted that SCum would probably not stop players from transferring to most schools (including ND) due to the scholarship limits. That was somewhat surprising. They also believe Amir was not pushed out and that it was truly a family decision. They only had good things to say about the kid, his attitude and leadership skills even as a freshman. Supposedly the TD he scored against Colorado was a thing of beauty!

I'll take 2 years of Prater over 4 years of Westerkamp.

Well, it didn't take long for people to start downgrading Westerkamp. Even on threads that aren't his own he's getting clowned smh.

And btw, I wouldn't take 2 yrs of Prater over 4 of Westerkamp. What have you seen of Prater, besides h.s. tape, a 5 star rating, and ONE catch for SIX yards in 2 yrs in college? I hope he comes, I really do. But if he does (which I don't think will happen), he'd have to improve dramatically. I saw him live at their final scrimmage this past August. Couldn't get off the line, didn't attack the ball when they passed it to him on a slant that was deflected and intercepted, ran seemingly on his tippy-toes on a bubble screen like he was scared to get hit. I was shocked at how pedestrian he looked. Got passed up on the depth chart quickly and didn't seem to be in their plans.

Now, I'm no scout, so I could be completely off. And maybe he'll improve greatly or he just had a bad day. I loved him out of high school, so I hope I'm wrong and he goes somewhere and has a great career - even better if he comes to ND.
