I'm sorry I try really hard not to say rough stuff about these kids, and you know what I won't, I'll say it about his parents....If they let him follow this piece of trash to u$c w/ what he has just done, combined w/ the sanctions that are gonna come down, they are IDIOTS.

The great thing is that it doesn't matter that he'll be late to classes, he still gets to mosey on down to USCheats. Enroll, un-enroll, re-enroll, it's all good. He'll be in class on Monday, and be forced to take his final at the end of the semester. Par for the course...

I figured it wouldn't matter if he missed classes at Tenn with Kiffin there. and now it is obvious that it doesn't matter if he misses classes at USC with Kiffin there too.

The only slimier coach than Pete Carrol IMO is Lane Kiffin. Worse than even Meyer. You want to talk about sanctions, look at what he has done at Tenn in just a couple of years. If the NCAA wasn't a complete joke there would already be sanctions at USC and Tenn because of those two guys.

The designation of student athletes at these schools is a joke, especially being at ND and seeing how hard those athletes had to work in the classroom as a athlete tutor for 3 years. Even if they wouldn't have had the academics to get in without being good athletes, they weren't coddled that much just supported and pushed to improve in the classroom.

The fact is that many of these 5 Star Recruits just do not value the educational aspect of college, it is merely a place they go until they can enter the NFL Draft......for this reason, Notre Dame will ALWAYS be at a disadvantage in recruiting the 5 Star guys....

I hope that the NCAA opens their freakin' eyes and puts some major sanctions against U$C for once!

You know what someone in our society has to stand up for education and what's right in general. I appreciate ND, Duke, Stanford, Vanderbilt, etc....who at least try and make them be students....F USC and Florida and everyone like them, that encourage this "doesn't matter if I am educated I can go to the league and get mine"attitude.

I agree. I hold Notre Dame up there with the military academies in that regard. They have certain disadvantages to recruiting players, but Navy and Air Force compete year in and year out now with those issues. Obviously, Notre Dame has a more prestigious history than them regarding success on the football field, but ND continues to experience some recruiting disadvantages due to their academic standards. However, I prefer it to be that way. I'd rather see ND graduate every one of its players rather than see them take basket-weaving and leave early just to get paid for being an athlete. I love seeing ND guys that make the NFL. When they do the player introductions on televised games and the player mumbles their name and school incoherently, I love it when they finally get to a Ryan Grant or Brady Quinn. Gold is a precious commodity, just like the players WE want to put in the NFL. The fact is that ND puts better people in the WORLD after their education. They don't consider the NFL to be the important hiring pool. As long as that remains, ND will lose out on some raw, pure talented people that have no interest in education. Those types of players want an education simply in football.

College football is a business. It about getting the best players aval to win. Their grades are at best below average to average. Not all of them are however most are. Good to have very smart players on our team.

Looking at kids we missed out on last year, I still don't understand how this kid escaped the Midwest for USC.

Eh, he liked the glitz and glam. Can't fault a 17-18 year old kid for being awed by that.

I didn't start following recruiting til last year but weren't we his #2? I doubt the rumors but it would be interesting if he wanted to follow Amir here.

Three SC players bolt for ND??? too crazy... honestly, having a spot for him would be the most difficult part so i highly doubt it.

some thought Prater really wanted to come out here... others thought he was just blowing smoke... his was a fairly interesting recruitment from what i remember...

No clue if nd has room for him but he would surely be a good upgrade.

I don't have access to the pay sites but there seems to be a thread on wearesc.com about this... pure rumour and no mention as to where...

HUGE IF....but IF Kyle Prater was indeed looking to transfer, and wanted to come to ND..the coaches would without a doubt make room for him. He was the #3 overall player in the 2010 cycle. He has a huge body and enormous potential. Kid would only be a sophomore eligibility wise. Our WR corps right now is young and unproven. Kyle is also unproven but I think he is a risk you definitely take if you have that opportunity. FWIW his HS film was ridiculous.

I remember in the Army All American game when he played the announcer said regarding him "That was Prater, who has hands the size of puppy dogs" haha.

Would love to have him, but doubt we have room

I think he only have two years of eligibility left in 2013 because he already redshirted I believe.

If we have room for Westerkamp, we would have room for Kyle Prater if he indeed wanted to come. He has MF like potential, only he's 2 inches taller.

Maybe it's just me but I'd take two years of Prater over four of Westerkamp. I suppose it doesn't matter though as there is likely no chance this is going to happen.
