Is Amir, Sap confirms

Bing. And I am HELLA excited. Most people remember the love affair I had (and still have) with Amir. He's a special guy on and off the field. I would so sad when he chose USC... and I was doubly sad because I felt he got (mildly) conned by Kiffin and his "we're #1 in everything" pitch.

What was someone saying about knee surgery?

In terms of threads, I do like the idea of topic-specific threads, but in the last two days there have been two threads started that were completely appropriate: the "Eifert to stay" thread and this thread. There are plenty of posters and readers who would be interested to follow a "transfer" discussion but would have no way of knowing it was going on if it was taking place in the "Who is likely next?" thread. Same thing with Eifert - that he has decided to return to ND is newsworthy in its own right and should not have been confined to his recruitment thread. All of this is just to say that I think both of these topics were handled appropriately.

The ONLY downside to this would be Southern Cal having an additional scholarship to hand out. I'm still more than ok with it.

hehe I agree with you in concept. The only thing to consider is that they're already at/over their schollie limit.... sooooo... it really just means "cutting" one less person... sorta...

Not sure if that makes sense, but it's not going to affect their goal of taking 7 more guys this year and Amir would DEFINITELY not have been one they would have "done away with."

I know he would have to sit out a year but wow this would be an awesome get. I wanted him bad last year. On 247 he was the 67 over all recruit and 7 best out state recruit. I just wish he would have been here this year when Jonas went down.

ISD has stated it's not entirely clear whether he will have to sit out a year or not yet, FWIW.

This would be HUGE. I have to like our chances because it would be pretty awkward if he returned to SC after visiting ND.

well yeah that too. Still, the only downside would be aiding Southern Cal's scholarship crunch, but its an elite talent so its all good.

Not questioning you or ISD, but how would he be eligible to play next season?

I'm assuming USC's probation or his family would play into it, but that is just my conjecture at this point. I am just restating what Mike Frank posted on ISD. I'm just as confused as you, but I would love it if he could play (although I know he had a knee injury as well that needs to be taken care of).

If he can play next year, then I am pretty excited. To be honest, if he comes and has to sit a year, then I'm only mildly excited.

Guys,
If he has to sit out in 2012, that is not a major concern. It is the following year where ND could be in major need at RB. We lose Theo Riddick for sure after 2012 and Cierre could decide to leave also if he does not take his 5th year. That would be significant.

I think we will be fine in 2012. Adding another RB is solid. I think this would let GAIII go to WR, where I think he fits best.

Idk it would work out pretty well if Cierre and Theo leave after next year and Amir can step right in as the speed back with Cam / GA III and Mahone / Roberson as the power.

Yeah- I hear ya. Just kind of hard to be "excited" about something 19 months away, know what I mean?

After all, I'm not Andy Dufresne, I'm a mere mortal. Haha!

Plus, I was hoping it was Armstead the Elder. If we get him, Armstead the Younger, AND Amir....then I would probably do a little more than crack a smile sitting in front of my computer!!!

This is actually a great steal or get-WHY- because he is a great talent, he will have to sit out one year-this means we only have to recruit one RB next year- cause in reality with Cierre, Theo, GA, and the new guys no big need right now-GRANTED one/two will probably get hurt, that the nature of RB position. However Theo gone next year and 95% sure Cierre bolts to NFL after this year.

Staff has already said he is better suited to stay at RB.

Carlisle's versatility and athleticism is definitely something to get excited about. I really don't care if he has to sit out a year or not. He is a player.

Wow. The addition of Amir and Prestwood via transfer makes last years strong class ridiculous.

There you have it. Hopefully he can step right in during the 2013 year. Big pickup. Love the the administration is loosening the transfer rules to allow such transfers when the situation is appropriate.

Makes me wonder if Kiffin told him to find another school with their number's crunch.
