That's not really how it would work out. Shumate should commit this weekend. Yuri would take his visit on 1/13, and he knows there's a scholarship crunch here. If someone were to commit, you're kind of SOL - that's recruiting.

But I thought you said that the possibility of the staff having someone higher on their board may be the reason why Yuri is pushing back his recruitment? If that was indeed the case, it wouldn't make sense for Yuri to push back his announcement if he was already going to commit to ND, right?

No i wasn't implying that they wouldn't take him. I don't think ND has anything to do with him changing his announcement. I think Michigan is making a late push, and he wants to take his visits. What I should have more clearly said is that if he waits too long, and a higher guy on the board @ DB commits, there might not be a spot come late January.

We didn't go cool on him. If he wanted to commit on Saturday, we'd take him in a heartbeat.

But he wants to take his visits first, so the staff continues to work on Thompson and Poole in case Wright goes elsewhere.

It might not be as slim as people think, It's quite clear Tee, Deontay and Shaq are tight.

I'm sure the staff hasn't let up on him at all. But he wants to visit scUM, which will have a compelling sales pitch in light of its recent BCS bowl victory.

What more should the staff do while Wright takes his visits? Sit on their hands to prove he's their #1? That didn't work well for Weis.

You're right. I misinterpreted it as though the staff plans to take the foot off the gas with Yuri to concentrate more on other guys (Shaq, Poole, etc.) that are higher on their board.

For the record, I don't think we have a shot with Treggs. Thompson is going to be a long shot at best. I think Wright has a good shot at committing. Nobody is "cooling" on anyone. Wright just want to take his visits.

Wright is very raw and it sounds like he's struggled at the Army game practices this week. I might be a year or two before he's ready to play. Really wish ND could get Poole instead because he probably could play right away.

Wright actually had a solid week of practice and was considered one of the standouts. I think he could play early considering his length and size.

Shaq Thompson is a safety and Poole could probably transition into a safety better than Wright could in my opinion.

Yeah, but I was just thinking that we had the best shot at Wright of those three. Thompson is a long shot, and Poole is already committed to Florida and seems reluctant to jump ship. But obviously I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

this Poole & Wright seems similar to Schutt & Day. I just hope we get one of them and secure Schumate. I thought Tee would end up at Safety until the game last night. Tee and Darby will lock it down at corner and Schumate and either Poole or Wright will complete greatness at FS and SS. btw how could you not want to be a part of this? I would not take any chances if I was Yuri. I am thrilled with either!

Did you simply look at their height/weight? Poole is one of the strongest secondary players in the class and maybe the strongest corner.
