maybe Eifert made his mind up after mcnamara committed to oklahoma and now the staff knows for sure we need a TE? of course idk, just sayin

this makes most sense to me

more importantly:

doesnt the taylor offer confirm that eifert is in fact gone?

No.

EDIT: I should elaborate. I am not saying he is staying either. I am just saying it doesn't necessarily guarantee he is leaving. The reason Kent Taylor is making ND noise is because of the uncertainty of OC at Florida and how Kent would fit in that offense. Even if Eifert stays I would not be upset one bit if we took this kid. After Eifert no one is proven, Golic has a back injury (although not career threatening), and Koyack played over Welch as a true Frosh.

I don't want to get grouped in with the pessimists, but I fear that Eifert will be cashing in this NFL draft.

2nd/3rd round isn't exactly "cashing" in. I think he is definitely torn on this decision though. He said himself that he can't get anymore information that he doesn't already have, so that, to me, means he doesn't know what he wants to do yet.

Yes we all know his name is Taylor McNamara, but what's you point with posting his name in Kent Taylor's thread? lol

IMO, Taylor is a better prospect than McNamara - hence the late interest for Taylor & lack of interest for McNamara

Did I miss the sarcasm font?

lol...it's just funny seeing the last name Taylor in front of the last name McNamara...It's dumb of me but lol.

Exactly, why? They supposedly didn't offer McNamara because of the assumption Eifert is sticking around. Wasn't McNamara higher on the staff's board for the TE position?
Kent Taylor was ND's #1 TE target from the start and by a large margin.

Kent is IMO the only TE they were willing to outright take and of the few others that they offered were more about the situation that ND was in regarding the position hence why McNamara never actually got his offer.

Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.

Pretty close

btw Koyack was listed on rivals at 230 coming out, but was like 265 immediately at ND???

No, Koyack's 230 was from when his recruiting profile was created here. He was listed in the 2011 ND Media Guide at 253 (preseason camp). He obviously worked hard and added bulk but commensurate with HS seniors that worked hard to develop.

No, Koyack's 230 for the Under Armour Bowl in January 11. He was listed in the 2011 ND Media Guide at 253 (preseason camp) and the Champs Sports Bowl at 253. He obviously worked hard as a HS Senior and added bulk during the Spring and Summer but commensurate with other HS seniors that worked hard to develop.
