Tony Alford visited his high school recently.....he said he likes the attention of all the schools coming to visit....sounds like he will milk this process no matter what.

Just to add on, he loves Alford (who doesn't), and we will probably get an OV.

TE is the least of our worries, right now. We can easily afford to skip one in this class.

Next year we'll go hard after Adam Breneman.

Says something about him wanting to see how the new OC will utilize a TE. Can only help us that Eifert set the ND record for receptions.

Would love to pick up this guy. I know we have young talent, but adding to depth is critical if Eifert leaves.

Makes me wonder why McNamara was passed up.

Taylor is a stud though.

Notre Dame is trying to make a late push for Florida four-star TE commit Kent Taylor

Exactly, why? They supposedly didn't offer McNamara because of the assumption Eifert is sticking around. Wasn't McNamara higher on the staff's board for the TE position?

Rivals: , TE #1
Scout: , TE #1

Who knows what is going on behind the lines w/ Eifert

I realize the rankings, but am I mistaken that the staff had McNamara ahead of Taylor in the TE position? If that's the case and the staff didn't even offer McNamara, why would they offer Taylor?

Taylor was a solid verbal to florida but since Weis took off he has been more willing to listen.

That still isn't answering my question. Perhaps it's a question no one but the staff knows. But if I'm remembering correctly, I thought I read somewhere that Taylor McNamara was higher on the staff's board at the TE position than Kent Taylor. By all reports, McNamara had a great OV and was just waiting on an offer, which never came. Speculation lead many to believe that it was the result of Eifert possibly coming back and our depth at TE looking solid enough to move forward to 2013 w/o a TE this cycle. If the staff passed on their #1 TE target this year (assuming I remembered this correctly), then why would they go after their #2 target? Regardless of where Kent is ranked by 247/Rivals/Scout...if he's #2 on ND's board, he's #2 period. If they wanted a TE this cycle, why not go after McNamara eventhough he's now committed to OU?

Sorry for the confusion. I'm just trying to get some clarification on this situation and make sure I'm remembering this recruitment correctly. I could be dead wrong, and if that's the case, I apologize in advance.

Maybe McNamara was considered a possibility, where Taylor was not until Charlie left.

Regardless of who was ranked where. My thoughts are McNamara had a timetable of when he wanted to make his decision by and we couldn't meet it. Kent Taylor gives us the option of waiting for Eifert's decision where McNamara may not have.
