Tomorrow I start my weight loss plan. I'm gonna drop 30 pounds, maybe 40. Anyone wanna take the journey to smaller jeans with me? We could post our pounds lost and share successes?

My plan:
Exercise for 1 hour, 4 days a week.
Smaller portions.
No beer or booze for the first 90 days, only 2 glasses of wine a week max.
No caffiene after noon.
A salad everyday either at lunch or dinner.
Lots of water.
I can't believe it's not butter.
No Mayo.
No food after 7pm.

I am actually trying to lose 30 pounds as well.

I am up to 215 now and it sucks.

I am not going to have alcohol until I get down to 200, then moderately from then on. (I drank 36 beers the last 3 days!!!!!!!)

I got a treadmill for Xmas cause I hate going to the gym.

Good luck to you sir!!!

I am down for this but I should probably lose 60 lbs. I can carry the weight I have now but I prefer not to keep it when I hit 40.

Lately, I have been a health nut and this what I do to lose weight/gain muscle.

-Dont eat 2 hours before you exercise/lift weights. Digesting food and working abdominal muscles is tough on your body.
-Run every day.
-If you have extra energy at night, run it off.
-Listening to music and watching tv while running makes it enjoyable.

Good luck to you as well Sir!

If we can get everyone who wants to join in to post the pounds they lose, we could see how much weight we lose as a group?

I try to eat clean as much as possible - trying to stay away from most processed foods. Don't lose sight of strength training for weight loss... cardio is good, but strength training is also a key ingredient. Good luck to anyone on this journey!!!

I need to lose ten or fifteen pounds too I'm up to 195. My plan is to eliminate all liquid outside of water or milk, just three meals a day, and add in cardio to my lifts.

i would love to lose about 15 pounds and get to around 195-200. my issue is time, having two children under 8 and two working parents. i rejoined the Y and have been doing spinning and body pump, gay i know, but at least i'm getting the cardio. i simply cannot work out solo, so the group class helps me power through. another problem is eating right. it's very difficult to consistently eat like richard simmons.

p.s.

i wish i had the time for consistent kettlebell training. that is my favorite program ever.

Anyone ever tried stealing a woman's purse in front of a cop for the running motivation?

Anyway, I probably need to lose 60 lbs, or at least transform some of the flab back into solid muscle. I might incorporate boxing into my workouts.

I'm in for the fun. My end goal is to shed about 25-30 lbs, 2-3 lbs per week. Its a shame we dont all live close together, we could pool money and have weekly weigh ins like the biggest loser..winner takes all. Whatever guidelines you all decide on, let me know. I'm 221 lbs right now.

LOL! If you want to run without breaking a law, just call your wife or girlfriend the wrong name.:onfire:

I'd love to help out and advise. I'd like to think I'm knowledgeable and after 5 years in the Marines and a year with DHS, I work out a lot.

Please just ask questions. This is a great thread.

I'll throw my quick two cents in about weight loss since that seems to be the goal.

-Cardio
-Low weight/high reps
-Portion control
-Consistency

-Even during weight loss, allow a cheat day. (Always reward yourself but don't over do it)
-Mix protein into your diet/weight loss

-Water, water, water

-Minimal soda, diet if you do

-Fruits, veggies, and nuts

-Oatmeal

One of the biggest things overlooked is not only the type of food you eat but how much of that food you do eat.

What may work for BobD may not work for Bert or arroaryan or Admiral, etc. Know your body and what works.

Note: My brother also majored in Exercise Science, interned at ND, and was offered a short-term job to train the swim team. I can get him to give some advice if need be.

Where is mbechka when IE appears to so desperately need him?? He'd have us all looking like Ivan Drako. We could probably all say, just for fun, "I must break you."

Bobby D (and others)-- listen to grahambo. Do what works best for you. Everybody has systems that worked for them, but you gotta do what works best for you. The only way to do it and know is probably by a little trial and error. I decided to lose some weight and get real healthy a few years ago. I knew my personality type and knew it would be futile to cut certain things out of my diet/way of life-- it would've just made me miserable and give me an excuse to skirt my "obligations" to diet and health.

I offer the advice to you (knowing full well it may not be best for you, but it worked for me) of simply making a commitment to eat healthier and exercise on a day-to-day basis. Don't eat fast food and processed food. Eat less at each meal. Eat a lot of vegetables. If you need a snack, eat a piece of fruit. If you love beer or hamburgers or ____, eat or drink them....but limit them to special occasions or as a reward. For exercise, if you enjoy, say, an elliptical machine...then keep doing it. Don't run or do ____ exercises that are difficult for you to do or bore you to death. Sure, mix it up a little, but do what works best for YOU and what YOU enjoy. Hit the diet and exercise hard and all balls to the wall when you're doing it...then enjoy the occasional hamburger, fried twinkie, or box of donuts!

OK. I'm in. New Year's resolutions include going on a high protien/low carb diet, and actually going to the gym (Instead of just paying for the membership). Being type-2 diabetic (and using insulin) makes weight loss both difficult, and imperative. Near-term goal, 40 pounds. Long term goal 60.

Ouch post holiday weight for me is 201. At six foot that isn't bad but I want to cut it down to at least 185 or 180 by the end of February. Is that reasonable or could I do that quicker?

I've read that losing about 3lbs a month is the best plan. Weight dropped too fast usually comes back fast.

I'm in. Want to lose 15 before summer. The BobD plan seems reasonable.

Cool! Welcome aboard.

I was just posting my plan so others knew what I was going to do. I think it's a good plan, but it's gonna be different for everyone. Good luck.

Being a loser on this team is encouraged!:smilewink
