Over the last two years, this kid has taken alot of shots from people on this board. He did struggle last year with the position changes, but he still gave great effort. The guys has been an absolute stud this year.

Even after his INT last week against Utah, there were several critical folks on here. You all can kiss my ***!!!! This guy is an absolute stud and played like a man possessed today.

Hayseed, you can play on my team any day of the week!!!!! Thanks for your effort and passion. Welcome back in 2011!!!!!

Glad him and GG are back for a 5th, well that is, if they get accepted into Grad School.

Harrison has played really well this year. I have always hoped for great things from him, but the previous coaching staff did a lousy job, and it shows now. Our entire secondary is night and day better than last year, even though pressure on the QB is still hit and miss.

Stud? No.

Improved? Yes.

Improved 10x over? Yes
Stud? What does that even mean?

It means either a man crush, or a very dramatic point made. I lean toward the drama. And it is well applied. Harrison may be the most improved player on the team. And who is at a higher level now? He is pretty damn special. He has speed, athletic ablility, he is thinking well - And people want to talk about hard hitters?

Usually agree...

I do agree he, and all dbacks are playing better. The biggest thing is, something clicked and they are now able to look back at the damned ball and make a play w/o getting horrifically out of position. Anyway, If Hayseed puts in the same quality performance against SC talent, then I'll believe the coaching has made the difference, and I'll even accept the stud reference.

But ...our safety play has been absolutely abhorent for a long time...even Zibby didn't play all that well his last season. I try to avoid names of kids when I criticize their overall play...but the whacks on Hayseed's play were legit from where I'm sitting...albeit not cool to get personal, or attack the kid...that I don't like. ....all our Safetys were always out of position, almost always missed in the open field, always gave up INSANE #s of 20+ yard plays...lately that hasen't been the case, and I'm happy for the improvement but I'd rather avoid amnesia and/or engage in revisionist history...

I had Hughes,Harrison and Filer as being big parts this year. So to be only 1/3 right has made his progression better for me. What a body change Harrison has gone thru, I noticed his lower body and arms a few weeks ago and he's only going to get a little bigger next year. The guy is an athlete. Maybe Filer can get going but Harrison Smith will be great to have back next year.

Almost everyone on the team looks ripped conpared to last year, but yeah, Harrison especially has some huge guns for a safety.

He was good last night. He was always coming to the line of scrimmage at full speed and making great tackles. He has improved ths season.

No labels necessary. Harrison Smith has been our defensive leader [Manti is actually learning that aspect from his more senior teammate--one of Harrison's hidden gifts to us, I think] and is to my eyes our most consistent warrior [remember that everyone else's mistakes are easier masked than the DBs]. All hail, Harrison Smith!! Proud to have you on our team. [Also, our "second" safety, whether Motta or Slaughter, is the one position in our defensive backfield which has NOT been consistent. This leaves Harrison "alone" back there sometimes in terms of getting the deep defense correct].

He's just getting used to being comfortable and confident on the field with the position that he should've been playing last year. Add in Longo's training and he should only get better.

I'm glad you changed the thread title.
I'm sick of people calling us (I have not spoken a word against this kid but in other such threads) people who criticize these kids Bashers or Haters. Most of the time (obviously theres tons of ridiculous haters out there that are unreasonable) we are justified in our criticism and just because they got better doesn't nullify what we said. It just means they got better. Sometimes criticism is what makes them better.
We're not bashing just to bash (though no doubt some are).

Harrison looked great last night, no doubt about that. However, he was playing what was essentially 'rover' and there was no need to worry about the pass. That's just his athletic performance showing up - and we all know he is one of the top athletes on the team.

We need to see him against SC before you can really comment on his progress as a safety.

His improvement has been fun to watch. He's turned from a negative to a positive almost over night. It's what you want to see when a new coach comes in. Taking a disappointment and turning him into a very good player who is only going to get better.

He has looked much more fluid in his safety spot this year. Takes some bad angles at times, but he has improved 10-fold under Chuck Martin.

Martin has single-handedly transformed our secondary. Love it.
