Here we go! Nine months to analyze, dissect, nit-pick every move, comment, inference, funny look that anyone associated with Notre Dame football makes. Here's my take:
With Floyd gone, and maybe Eifert (hope not), defenses in the beginning can play pretty straight up coverage on all of our receivers, at least until someone steps out. I think that could be a benefit, maybe!
It seems to me that the QB that ultimately wins the starter role will be the one who can best see the field, extend the play as needed, and hit the chosen receiver the quickest and most accurately. Has to be able to drop a bomb here or there, and won't let a turnover get in the way. There will be turnovers.
Now I'm biased towards Golson. He's kind of a home boy for me, at least in the sense that I'm pretty sure I have had some big times in his home town, just don't remember them.
That's my rational except to say I think the kid is really talented and he still has the most experience in a spread offense, albeit at a high school level. Won a state championship in a pretty competitive state.
So let's hear it. A long month of recruiting ahead, nine months of no games. That sucks....
