I see your point but if Gunner would decide already than the coaching staff could displace their love accordingly.

It pretty much hinges on his decision right now whether or not Diaco has his coffee black or with extra sugar.

It's not to late to show this kid attention and win his commitment.

I know this is the least of his concerns, but I'm getting a little sick of the GK recruitment saga. Whereever he goes, he's doing that team a disservice by taking this long.
Many have posted here, and I agree, his best use for ND now is as a recruiter, not so much a QB (this year).
And if we miss out on someone like Fuller because we waited to hear Gunner picked LSU or Vandy, it's a pretty raw deal.

im not sure why he would come here as a QB. theres already 2 of him here that havent played with better throwing motion.

I think he belongs in the d-backfield

If QB is his dream, hes not coming here. If playing at ND and playing positions that give him a better shot at NFL are goals then game on.

I disagree, while hesays needs work he can definitely play QB at the college level. Plus he would be the best running QB on the team.

Based on what? Everything we've read so far has suggested that he is being offered a chance to come in and compete for the QB job.

So every recruit that signs on NSD is also doing their team a disservice? I guess every recruit that doesn't commit their junior year is doing a disservice too. This kid isn't deciding where he's going to lunch or what movie he's going to see. He's making a decision that will set him up for the rest of his life. I want him to commit somewhere sooner than later, but I'm not getting butthurt about it. Let him take as long as he needs.

"butthurt", how eloquent.
1. Few recruits can influence other top recruits like a 5 star QB
2. We've all discussed how QB isn't a need for ND this year and Kiel's greatest immediate value is a recruiter.
3. Personally, I'd rather have a QB like Fuller that better fits BKs system.
4. And regardless of where he goes, Kiel is a prototypical NFL QB, if he is healthy for 3-4 years, he'll be a pro so choosing between these three schools will have a lot less I an impact than most other recruits.

But like Wooly and the Dude say, "thats like, your opinion man."

Kelly wants a guy who is pass first. He just wants him to run enough to keep a defense honest. The more mobile the better, obviously, but Kiel is a great fit.

You think Kelly is recruiting Gunner Kiel so he can recruit other players? No. He's recruiting him to play QB. Our coaches have proven they can recruit. If we have to rely on a high school football player to recruit for us, we're f***ed.

I forgot we were even in Fuller's thread. Back to Fuller. I'd gladly take him if we miss on Gunner.

If you really think Notre Dame is going back to the option if they get Fuller, or ten Fullers, you're insane.

Trust me the spread offense can have the option attack as well...Look a guy like Golson/Fuller run or pass with a Riddick style RB.. That is a killer combo..

I know BK will run the spread, but i bet anything we see the option next yr/or maybe even at the bowl game..

That is not "the option."

Understatement, but very true

Not as different as you guys are making it sound. Oregon's offense isn't that far from the old Nebraska offense (well what you are recruiting for is different but the concepts are similar).

There is a huge difference between running the triple option (like Army, Navy, and Tony Rice ran at ND) and using option concepts within a spread offense. Just because you have a dive back who you can hand off to or not based on the read key (zone read as it is called within the spread), or that you have a pitch back who you can pitch to, or both does not mean you are running the (or an) option offense. You are implementing option concepts within your system. So I think its best to qualify whether you are running an option offense or option plays within an offense system.

I think the best way to put this is that BK would implement option concepts, including zone read (like we already run) and the use of pitch men, within his spread offense. I highly highly doubt Notre Dame will ever go back to running a "straight" option offense.

The problem is people equivocating "option" with many different types of offense that involve a running QB and/or read plays.

All that really matters is that ND will have it tough beating out Rich Rod here but if we do Fuller has incredible upside as a QB. We can debate the offensive specifics after he signs the LOI.
