I think it would be quite discouraging to bounce around to different schools during one's college career. Best wishes to him.

Happy for Dayne and Charlie. Just glanced at their roster and it looks like their top 2 RB's from this year were a Sophomore and a Freshman and their top 2 WR's were both Juniors. Only top skill player that is a Senior is their TE. Worth noting that their starting QB this year (Jordan Webb) is only a Sophomore. Don't think Crist will have too much trouble taking over though as Webb started the season throwing 6 TD's vs 0 INT's vs McNeese State and Northern Illinois, but only threw 7 TD's vs 12 INT's the rest of the season against tougher competition.

Weis advised Webb to transfer because he isn't a pro style QB.

Is he a spread style QB? He's definitely not a Dual Threat type QB and his Rivals page listed him as a "Pro Style." I'm not doubting you Mike, just trying to get clarification.

Well I'm not exactly sure what he is viewed as, I had just read at a few different places that Weis had advised him to transfer.

It was hard to tell this year. Last year he ran a whole heck of a lot, but that ended his season (shot to the head against A&M). He was trying to stay in the pocket more this year, but was also running for his life.

Jake Heaps...BYU also heading Charlie's way.

BYU football: Jake Heaps not the only QB of note transferring to Kansas | Deseret News

...thats some solid QB talent Chuck already landed...He'll get a couple WR recruits, and possibly some 5th year guys from here and there...If the line can block...they should be pretty potent next year...this ain't your grand daddy's Kansas...look out.

Its not if the Oline can block, it will be if the defense will be able to stop anybody.

The offense had moments this year when it was pretty good. Some decent o-lineman returning, a stable of running backs (assuming all 4 stay), now w/ Dayne/Heaps and Charlie recruiting I am not worried about the offense at all. Charlie needs to make a great hire for the DC position. They were dead last in yards allowed last year, just abysmal.

All of the good moments for the offense were early. Starting mid-season, everything was bad. Yes, I think there's some skill there. It could turn around quickly.

I wonder if Opurum might get some time at FB...that's what Charlie recruited him to do in the first place. But, you're right, defense is the bigger issue now.

I remember Charlie wanting him at ND as a fullback....I think at this point it is in his best interest to keep him at outside linebacker/d-end.

Nothing but the best wishes for Dayne at KU, but never have any doubt that you will always be a "Loyal Son" and a Notre Dame man. Thanks and good luck!
