Apparently he is catching a lot of crap from the locals about not choosing UW.

Someone was talking crap to him on twitter last night about it and he responded back saying that it is not all about football.

Of course those damn skunbear fans saw blood in the water and started tweeting at him right away.

Their pitch is always the same:

"Come to A2 (to sound more hip) we will love you here! You can be the next ____ (Insert former Michigan player)! Largest living Alumni! 110,000 strong every Saturday! Come play for the best coach in the country Coach ___ (Hoke if an offensive recruit Mattinson if a defense recruit). #GoBlue"

And they are relentless.

And they smell really bad.

Fixed that for you. Wolverines were labeled as 1 of the 10 worst smelling animals in the world in a study done this year (true story). I've got your A2 right here... Ann Arbor is a W****. Go Irish!

I'm starting to think i'm pretty bad becoming an "IE junky" but this ^^^ is just stupidity....What would possess a person to go out of their way to talk smack to a kid? We all dislike seeing a big time recruit going to other or rival schools but in every student athletes defense if they feel more comfortable going else where more power to them. While i might not like their choice i respect it just don't get angry when were rooting against you on game day...

Still like our chances with the Big Fella

He is definitely getting a lot of heat from the locals, which gives me copious amounts of pleasure!
I wrote a comment (last night) in a Seattle Times sports blog that basically accused the local fans of having their heads buried in the Alki Beach sand (a local Seattle landmark) and that they should've seen this coming, based on what Josh has said recently (either directly or indirectly). Of course I received many "thumbs down" from the local fans for my post, but as JG stated, his decision is based on more than playing football. I still believe ND and Stanford are 1 and 2, but not sure in what order. GO IRISH!

We just have to hope he doesn't like his Stanford visit as much as he liked his ND visit.

Interesting interview. UW is definitely out. It isn't because of the success or lack thereof at UW. It isn't a football decision.

He wants a place with very strong academics, sunny days, and a place that is different. Comes down to Stanford, ND, and UM. He mentions how important the decision is because it is a 40yr decision.

He REALLY wants to be a doctor, but maybe after the NFL. He views himself essentially as an ambassador to the medical field, particularily because of how underrepresented African Americans are in the medical field. Says he is a Malcolm X fan.

He wants to play left tackle, but is happy to play where he is needed the most.

He says he wants to make his decision toward the later part of Jan. because Zach Banner is announcing earlier in the month (and he doesn't want to steal his thunder). He wants to watch the teams in their bowl games, and see how the O-line plays. It is a 3 way tie among the schools -- no leader. He says nice things about each school, and mentions friends he has at each school.

He sounds very intelligent, well-spoken, and mature. He seems to really know what he wants, and he is very self-aware.

I really hope we get him!

His hometown only has 142 Sunny days, so maybe college destination only needs to be sunnier then that. LOL

Having spent the first 24 years of my life growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I can tell you from experience that the overcast climate can start to bother you...and most locals would tell you, "it's not the rain (about 37 inches a year), it's the seemingly endless cloudy days".

So, for a kid like Josh, that has spent his entire life in such a climate, a far sunnier locale has some immediate appeal. I lived in the Bay Area for about 8 years, and until I got there, I had no idea that Palm trees, oranges, and lemons would grow in that climate...kind of nice. However, I also spent 4 years living about 90 minutes west of Chicago, and I actually looked forward to the change of seasons...but I digress.

My point in all of this is that ND has been successful in recruiting players from Hawaii and Cali, and even Florida, so while warm winter days are nice, most intelligent kids figure out that the "total college experience" is worth more than catching a few extra rays. Forget the sun Josh, come to where legends are born - GO IRISH!

I hope someone told him about Chris Stewart.

I know that Chris was pre-law.. But still, the guy was able to get a degree in law and still play top notch for ND.

I see a lot of similarities between the two, and I like that, a lot..

I think Miami might be a sleeper in Garnett's recruitment. I heard from a good friend down there that he grew up a fan and was ecstatic when the U offered. They have a tremendous pre med program from what my friend told me. Garnett is visiting there in a few weeks.

ND has a 85% acceptance rate to medical schools, can't get much better than that.
