I think TJ has better makings of a slot. Would like to see him there with Davaris and Deontay on the outside.

Depending on who else commits it is a very real possibility that we have an all freshmen wr. corps next season with DG, DD(red-shirt freshman) and possibly Neal at slot if he commits. Imagine that.

Gladly it's one of the positions where you can really succeed as a frosh. I'd still like to see Danny Smith become a big body threat and Farley a bolt of speed.

Toma has been very productive every time he's made it on the field. Barring injury, I don't think even Neal will displace him next year. But the X and W are wide open.

I'm definitely rooting for Smith he needs to kick that injury bug. I think Farley was cross trained at receiver because Kelly wasn't seeing what he wanted out of the receivers we had i just have a feeling he might go back to the secondary.

I'm predicting TJ keeps his job. I see a leap of productivity there this coming year. I also pray that Toma is the starting slot; I have seen no player on our team who gets less respect for the actual in-game productivity that he shows us. That is why I believe it's Daniels vs. Greenberry, Ferguson, & Brown for the third starting receiver. Greenberry is TREMENDOUSLY impressive. So, amazingly, are the other guys. That is going to be interesting to watch. If I were Greenberry or Daniels, or whoever, I'd be planning a temporary stay in Cincinnati this early summer to catch footballs every day from Andrew Hendrix.

Your on point my friend as a fan you have to love a kid like Toma. All the negative things said about him and he just kept working. I really take a liking to football players that are too small, too slow, and don't look the part but are just ballers'... I hope he gets a bigger role next year because every chance he was handed he took advantage of and proved he belonged on the field.

I was wondering...just how long is Tay B's senior highlight tape going to be? Like three hours?

Great point Big Mike. Greenberry vs. Daniels thats a tough one on one hand Daniels has had a year to learn the system and physically develop while Greenberry is just a freak athlete that can catch a fly off a brahma bulls arse.

I agree. Guys, no matter how good, don't just come in and take a 2-year starters job when they haven't taken a snap before.

I think it's a guarantee that Toma is the starting slot/Z and Jones is the starting X, unless we get Nelson.
IMO, Davaris will likely start at W with Greenberry pushing him and eventually supplanting him (maybe not next year) so that Davaris can do more in the middle. Both will get time at Y too.

Z
Toma (unless we get Agholar)
(Neal)
Brown/(Westerkamp)
Farley (until he switches)

X
Jones
Daniels/Greenberry
Brown/(Westerkamp)
Smith/Massa

W
Daniels
Greenberry
Ferguson

Smith/Massa

Michael Floyd came in and started almost immediately. If Greenberry is good enough to start, he'll start.

I could be completely wrong, but my understanding of our WR position terminology is this: W = field, Z= field slot, Y= boundary slot, and X= boundary.

I'm fairly certain that, at least for this year's starters, Floyd is at the W, Toma is at the Z, Jones is at the X, and Eifert is at the Y whenever he splits off the line.

TJ basically started day one. Riddickulous is correct in that Coach has nothing whatever against starting anyone who earns it [class rank with the strong exception for O-Linemen has no play in Kelly's mind]. I just speculate that TJ WILL earn it again and Toma will earn the slot. That leaves some really high octane talent to try to grab that other position with Deontay and Davaris right up there as candidates.

If some of these guys were "creative", Andrew and Everett would "host their own summer camp" and invite Davaris, Deontay, Chris, Robbie, TJ, Cam, Daniel, Matthew et al to
hang out" and catch several hundred balls. Tyler and Ben and Alex should come too. Maybe even Cierre and GAIII and Theo and Will, but the "all-the-time" receivers mostly so.

Hmmmm.... my imagination refuses to stop. Why not get the DBs down there too to cover?? Some extra workouts against quality receivers for Lo, Josh, Eilar, Jalen, and all the rooks.... dreams..... ND's own unofficial 7x7 invitational.

and Danny and BenC and Ishaq and Troy and DanF and Prince and Jarrett .... no peeking though coaches!!

Kelly saved his "in-home" visit for late in January for this specific reason.

IIRC, Greenberry visited or intended to visit USC earlier. Did that actually happen?

I hope to God we can hang onto this kid. He's what we need to get to where we all want to be.

Agreed. This kid is a game breaker. It will be interesting to see how he does in an all-star game. It will give him a chance to further prove himself, as it seems that he is currently underrated.

He is definitely not underrated anymore. Just on the outside of 5 star status on Scout and is ranked the #4 WR on 24/7.
