My feeling is that Kelly berating his QB's and constantly juggling them in and out does not bode well in recruiting the position. Hope I am wrong.

Steve Wiltfong @SWiltfong247

Five-star QB Gunner Kiel is home from his official to LSU. Won't make it to Vanderbilt today as planned. Possibly tomorrow.

Guess well find out tomorrow if he goes to Vandy.

He stated he would make his decision on January 7th. That gives him a whopping 8 days to the 15th to get settled before the first day of class, wherever he decide to go.

sounds like lsu really made a good impression...think he knows that he could go in there right away and compete for early p.t. some would say the same possibility lies in south bend, but i agree coach kelly seems to put way too much stock in "knowing" the playbook. if the kid can play let him learn by playing not watching. hendrix is an example of that. he learned sooooo much more i'm sure in just the one half of football he played last saturday than he has the last two years combined. let them take their licks. if they're the best player get them on the field and play...when it's five star talent they will usually do more good things for you than bad and with the defense lsu has that'll really help limit the impact any freshman mistakes have.

This thread has an incredible amount of false info, bad assumptions and repetitiveness. I am not pointing at anyone in particular, but most of the repeated questions on this thread can be answered if you simply read previous posts.

I am trying not to post in this thread, but this thread has gotten sloppy.

I agree. I'm not taking anything I hear here seriously. If he commits, it's an excellent addition. If he doesn't, I'm happy with Hendrix and Golson.

I am waiting and seeing, patiently.

Named Indiana Gatorade Player of The Year.

Indiana Football POY: Gunner Kiel - Player of the Year - ESPNHS

THE PRAISE: Steven Fish, head coach of rival Madison (Ind.)

“Gunner Kiel is an outstanding football player. What impresses me the most about him is his command of the offense. He literally looked like Peyton Manning, calling out plays, pointing to potential blitzing players and orchestrating his offense. He knows what he wants to do and is very efficient.”

There are just about 1800 posts in this thread. I highly doubt anyone wants to read through all of that.

You dont have to read 1800 posts to find the answer to "when is he deciding?". In fact, you would probably get your answer faster if you simply googled it. I am also not talking just about dumb questions. There is a lot of bad info (gunner is deciding on the 9th, for instance) that people are posting that isn't even fact checked. When people load the thread with bogus info, it makes it even harder for people to search for the correct info.

I'm just saying that if someone wants to ask a question or post some info, think about what you are going to write for a second because this thread is loaded with a bunch of garbage.

I try to keep up with it but I have to work sometimes lol. I am lucky though I work from home so I can pretty much keep up as long as my damn clients don't call me(J/k)...

I want Kiel don't get me wrong, but I feel tough that Golson is our real qb of the future. The reason i want Gunner is so it gives a better shot nelson, payton etc. I think with a top qb Notre Dame will become more attractive to the top flight offensive of recruits. I feel like he is 60/40 Irish. I'm hoping we can keep him in state. We can't let kids get away of this caliber in state even though I think we have a qb better on the roster. I know IN isn't that deep in football, but when those few studs appear we have to lock them down.

Just that he is still scheduled to visit Saturday and Wiltfong still likes our chances.

Golden, You have a lot of info......on a percentage basis, what do you think our chances of getting him in your opinion? 75%?? 90%??

Wiltfong is pretty much the only recruiting analyst that the Kiels talk to on a regular basis. He formed a good relationship with them by going to so many of Gunner's games and living so close to Columbus (Steve lives in Indy). If he still thinks ND is the leader and the team to beat then I feel pretty confident that we are. I would put our chances at 70-75%.

A far cry from what I thought our chances were when he first decommitted.

LSU is dangerously in on this imo...hopefully they're focused on winning against bama then recruiting right now, since he wants to be an EE

Just curious, why do you think that? Because they don't really have competition at the QB spot and are playing in the title?

LSU is definitely a major player because:

1) Kragthorpe (QB Coach)
2) SEC football
3) They win

Mettenberger (Kicked out of UGA and transferred from junior college) is the presumed starter the next 2-3 years (I don't know how his eligilibity works) and they also have redshirts on Jerrard Randall and Stephen Rivers. Their depth chart is very similar to ND's.

hmmmmm...i wonder if the reason that kelly took over his recruiting is b/c he knew molnar was leaving for UMass?

More ignorance about the situation than sarcasm. I don't follow LSU too much, just know that #12 is a 5th year senior and thought that #9 was graduating as well. That's why I put lack of QB competition, meaning early PT.
