Man, Urban's so good that he's going to take 75 to midwest recruits every single year. We're screwed!!!

I think it's going to hurt us a bit in recruiting, but man, you're taking it overboard.)
You are going to see more of the higher ranked Midwest recruits gravitating towards Urb at OSU then under Tressel in my opinion. That's the point. Having a pitbull like him recruiting in ND's back yard is going to be a problem. He won't get everybody, but there is a pretty good chance he will get most of the kids he wants.

Don't we have to assume that if he takes the OSU job that he has gotten some level of assurances that the NCAA is not going to smack the taste out of OSU's mouth and how is that possible while under investigation players just this summer worked phantom jobs. How could Urban know its gonna be A OK in Columbus is not the NCAA investigations supposed to be at least in theory Hush Hush...You know who really has a gripe is Boise and I hate to say it USC if OSU ends up with any less than USC that really challenges what little credibility the NCAA has left

It will hurt us with top-flight guy a bit. I think it will help us with the highly rated 3-stars in Ohio who now wont get an offer, as one would expect Meyer to get at least 1/4 of his recruiting class from down South and leave some other guys leftover.

Well that sounds exciting. let's take the leftovers and strive for 8-4 every year.

Not saying I think you're right, but if you WERE right about how it will impact our recruiting then it's going to be a sad, sad decade for ND.

That Ohio State's infractions were worse than USC's.

Well, USC had one rogue kid (that is, they were caught with one rogue kid) whose parents were getting hooked up by an agent and who had a seriously tricked out car that he couldn't account for, plus they hired an extra consultant/special teams coach than was allowed. You had the OJ Mayo fiasco (basetball). Oh, and some tennis chick got hooked up with a calling card or something (tennis).

Compare that (again, that was what USC was caught with' I'm sure there was more going on) with what went down at OSU, and there is no comparison. Players getting hooked up with free tats was just the cusp. Players were selling their gear/swag for thousands and thousands of dollars, unchecked. Players were getting hooked up with cars. Players were getting hooked up with drugs for autographs. And don't even get me started on Terrell Pryor. And all of this under the watch of a coach not only permitting this to happen, but covering it up as well!

I actually know the USC case much more in-depth than I do the OSU case, but I've read up on the OSU crap as well and they just seem sooooooooo dirty. If the NCAA has ANY backbone, they'd do OSU the same way they did USC.

(And there is even some parallel to the cases: USC hired a dirty-*** scumbag with Kiffin in the face of sanctions, and OSU hired a dirty-*** scumbag with Meyer in the face of sanctions.)

Not the same as USC...my argument (the lawyer in me) thinks that USC being the most recent major situation sets the precedent and anything worse must therefor incur a more severe punishment..OSU is text book loss of institutional control..When we get to Miami and North Carolina those two really deserve the death penalty..Miami has never been clean since the good ol U days and uncle big bucks rap star..North Carolina needs it because if you dont smack hard on the little schools who jump up to football excellence..then the lesson learned is its worth it to get punished and to cheat to put your program on the map.

And the announcing by the OSU AD which who knows how he still has a job that they will go bowling on the heals of Miami having a tad of humility is just sickening..somehow its ok to continue to poke the NCAA bear because clearly it has no claws

There is also the sCam Newton precedent where you can shop your kid at colleges so long as he or she does not know. NCAA is gutless. pOSU gets a slap on the wrist since the NCAA is secretly having buttsex with most if not all of the Big Ten.

Obviously you don't know what was actually happening at tOSU.
First of all the only part Tressel knew about was the tattoo infraction. And he didn't do anything to cover it up, he just didn't really do anything to report it. If you don't think coaches are notified of violations at every school and do not report all of them then you are just being ignorant.
The players were selling their gear for face value. They got the same amount for their gear as they would if they sold it on eBay. It was sold for fair value, so they didn't receive any extra money because they were tOSU players. While this is a violation, I don't think selling your OWN stuff is nearly as big of a deal as giving player's free cars and pent houses (USC).

I'm pretty sure you just made up the drugs for autographs part because I have never heard that rumor. The guy that the players sold THEIR gear to in return for tattoos and cash was involved in drug trafficking, but it was never reported players purchased drugs or traded for drugs from him.

And the cars were just loaners that were given to the players when they took their cars to the shop. All the stories of players getting free cars were proven to be untrue and poor journalism.

tOSU has the largest compliance department in the country and has had the most NCAA violations over the past ten years because they self-report more than any other school.

Did tOSU violate NCAA rules? Yes. But IMO it was no where near as bad as USC. The allegations revolve around players selling their stuff, whereas the USC violations were a result of players being given gifts.

And btw to the post above saying there is no over signing in the big ten, Meyer never over signed at UF. Three schools in the SEC do not over sign: Florida, Georgia, and Vanderbilt.

Herbie: "People think Urban's dream job is Notre Dame. His dream job is Ohio State."

People think ND was Urban's dream job because he said it in his book (reportedly). Also, what gave it away that ND wasn't his dream job? Maybe the fact he turned ND down twice in the past 10 years.

No real shocker there.

LOL!

I just saw this post, and no one saw it b/c it had to be approved by a mod.

Anyway, I love it when fans of a school that cheats rationalizes their ceating by saying it wasn't a big deal or that the reporters lied and all the facts are wrong, and then in the next breath spews a lie about another school (who got a penthouse from USC?????).

I don't have the time right now nor the want-to to dispute that ridiculous post, but I'm sure someone else will. Maybe tomorrow if I have a minute I'll link you to all the b.s. that OSU has been pulling (here's a hint: the NCAA isn't investigating you for nothing).

Oh wait...before I go - OSU has the most violations not because you guys self-report the most (Tressel laughs at that one)...IT'S BECAUSE YOU COMMIT THE MOST VIOLATIONS. Pretty simple, no?

Per a Buckeye mod Urban might take Tim Hinton with him to Ohio State.
