The funny thing about this Columbus East team is that it might be the weakest CE team in the last 5 years, and they still made it to the 4A (second highest in IN) Semi-State (Final 4) this year.

He's (Gunner) out there by himself for the most part. A program that has put quite a few players into D1 and D1-AA the past few years has absolutely zero viable talent around Kiel this year, compared to comparable 4A teams. This is their worst line in quite some time. It's masked by their relatively weak regular season tilt (minus a game vs 5A Columbus North...which they lost) and a relatively easy walk through the postseason until this Cathedral matchup.

So, IMO, it isn't fair to judge Gunner against his regular season matchups...because his opponents aren't of any decent caliber...but its also unfair to judge him in losses like this, because his team isn't within Cathedral's talent level by about two time zones.

Gunner Kiel might be the #1 QB with the most question marks in some time. All I know for sure is that it's unfair to judge him based on this game playing with guys that wouldn't start at Cathedral...and some wouldn't be on the two deep, at that.

I totally agree, and I think he realizes that too. He is friends with pretty much every kid that is high on our list. It is no coincidence that KMarshall was tweeting about Gunner possibly committing before we even started talking about it here. Recruits care about where Gunner ends up. Pair that with the fact that he was willing to talk to Turner last night after his loss and because of his desire to EE, and we have a recipe for a commitment.

Again, I have no insider info, but all signs point to him making his commitment soon. With him needing to get on campus in Jan, what time better than now to get mentally prepared? He also has to know that the sooner he gets on board, the more time the staff has to leverage his status with other recruits.

I have my fingers crossed.

Just because he wasn't in the player walk, doesn't mean that he isn't on campus. Hopefully, he is busy meeting with admissions about getting early enrolled.

I was told that he was on campus, but it's kind of a "heard from someone else" type situation. Everything I am hearing is either an "I haven't seen him yet" or "I heard he is there", so I remain hopeful.

Walk is not for officials only. But he still may be there and did not eant to go though the typical recruit day.
