I wrote this in the other thread but how Texas is 23 and Auburn is 24 is beyond me. Texas loss to unranked (5-5) Missouri and Auburn was killed by Georgia.

Good. I'm glad we're not ranked in the BCS. That would put us in perfect position to be upset by BC. I have yet to see an ND team in any sport I care about that can handle a top 25 ranking (except Lacrosse - even Hockey responded to being #1 by getting upset by f***ing Bemidget State or some similar crappy team; and don't even get me started on Brey). Also, the little football history BC has is in ruining other teams' seasons.

Also, do you guys think we've actually earned a Top 25 spot? I understand there are worse teams than ND in the top 25, but disregarding that, do you guys think we are one of the 25 best teams in the country? (Not being sardonic, genuine question)

Notre Dame was 33rd in the BCS last week, so we had some ground to make up. We're probably just outside. If we can make a decent move in the coaches poll after the BC game and then beat a 10-1 Stanford team, there is still a chance we could position ourselves for an at-large. But, in addition to handling our own business, it would require some serious love from the coaches and some help from teams currently between us and that 14th slot.

I think it should be noted that we cannot act like we were screwed if we finish 9-3 and don't get to a BCS game. It would be kind of fluky if it did happen. We certainly had every opportunity to earn a BCS bid this year, and we didn't capitalize on them.

Behind who? Florida State. I hate to continue to harp on this, but is so unbelievably infuriating. FSU is ahead of us because they received considerably more votes than ND in the Coaches and Harris polls, but all of the computers have us way ahead of them.

What could possibly be causing these people to keep ranking FSU ahead of ND? As I've posted now in a number of threads (so I won't retype the whole argument here), by any objective or subjective standard there is no reasonable argument to be made that FSU is a better team than ND. I would love to hear an explanation from one of these voters.

+1. In fact, I dedicated a whole thread to this earlier. Auburn, Texas and Florida State are all getting points based on factors completely unrelated to on field performance this year. Florida State is the single most overrated team of the past decade... so why stop now? Auburn needed a miracle to escape Utah State and has no quality wins. Texas is just atrocious, seriously pathetic on offense.

The link says we're behind Florida State

Right, it was rhetorical. I answered my own question in the next sentence. I guess I should keep in mind that just because I would say something a certain way doesn't mean I should type it that way. It doesn't always translate.

South Carolina, who is #12. Our quality win is MSU, who is #15.

None of our other wins are over teams better than Florida.

Auburn has 4 losses all by double digits. Two of which are by 30+. All 4 losses are to ranked teams, but they weren't even that competitive in any of them.

Not to start a debate because there are still games left and things will sort themselves out. Just wanted to point that out

besides MSU, do WE have any "big wins" this year? i mean we've beaten a bad Purdue team, a mediocre WF, a bad Navy team, a bad Maryland team, a decent Pitt team, a pretty bad AF team. I'm just looking at it from the perspective of a poll voter, this ND team only has one win over a team with a record over .500. If we win out that number would only increase to 2. IMHO i don't think that warrants a BCS berth.

Agreed on Texas and Auburn, and I think we could probably find another couple other suspect teams ahead of us, but FSU really aggravates me because they legitimately might be terrible. Coming into this weekend, the six teams that had beat had combined for 14 wins, and only 5 of them were against BCS teams. That was 10 weeks into the season! How is that even possible? Then you throw in the anecdotal stuff, like our respective results vs. Wake Forrest, and the fact that they haven't beaten anyone even close to as good as Michigan State. It gets me fired up!

Who said anything about a BCS berth? I thought this was about being ranked in the BCS standings???

Like the Boise St, TCU, Utah, or any other non-AQ team would say. They play who is on the schedule and win. That is all they can do. They have also won 7-8 games.

Well let's give FSU a beatdown in the Champ Sports Bowl so we can show everyone that we've been better than them all year (which we have been).

there has been a lot of talk lately about somehow jumping to 14 in the rankings, I'm also posting this out of the realization i came to when i looked the records up.

i would agree, but to the people who argue that this team is ready to play at a very high level, i think they need to remember that its easy to think big after a blowout win, but that we need to remember the facts as they are about this team this year.

Bama fans are already planning their 234th claimed MNC after Okie Light loses to Okie Diesel. Who cares if they don't win the SEC, much less the West Division, let the delusions of grandeur continue.
