Interesting that Penn St. dropped NINE spots for losing by 3 to the 17th ranked team at home, and Boise St. dropped five spots for losing by one point to an unranked team.

I never thought PSU was as good as their ranking indicated, but things like this help show why I hate the polls. Voters look for reasons to vote teams higher or lower based on their preconceived notions. It's almost like the games and their results are a secondary source for information.

Waiting on the Harris Poll still, which makes up 1/3 of the BCS standings.

I'm more interested in the ranking when all 12 games have been played. Finishing in the top 20 would be awesome progress IMO.

Even if we drop out of the polls if we lose to Stanford (or BC), we could probably sneak back into the final rankings with a bowl win and 9-4 record.

Good news is we're 1 point from 23, bad news is we're 2 from unranked. No room for slipup against BC.

10 spots in 2 weeks? someone light some candles at the grotto...

Beating Stanford would jump us a minimum of five in my opinion assuming they win next week. With Boston it depends on how the teams in front of us do. Let's hope they all lose

I think Stanford losing really hurt our chances of this. However, it will be pretty fun to root against every two loss team for the next two weeks.

We need to be extrmely lucky next week,. If we're sitting at 25 this week we need to be about number 18 at worst for a shot at BCS

I think our win over Wake at Wake had a good impact on our rankings after Wake took Clemson down to the wire at Clemson. The "close" win helped our cause.

Doubt it. Computers don't see margin of victory and most human voters would probably just assume that Clemson had an 'off day' but won anyway.

It's ridiculous that Southern Miss is ranked ahead of us.

I can agree with that. Also, I still cannot believe that the people entrusted to rank the teams, and ostensibly know something about the sport, keep voting FSU ahead of ND. Its an absolute joke. At least you could look at Southern Miss and point to their record as why you voted them ahead of ND (which is idiotic, but still 100X more understandable than voting for FSU). FSU has ZERO good wins. Lost to Wake Forrest (who we beat). Going into yesterday, the six teams they beat had won HALF as many games as the teams we beat (27/14, I think). The six teams they beat only accounted for FIVE wins against BCS teams between them, whereas the six teams ND beat have accounted for 13 wins against BCS teams.

Its a travesty and a sham and a mockery. Its a traveshamockery.

It is too bad Wake couldn't hold on to that came. They were doing fine, then Clemson flipped the switch.
