EDIT: That D-bag homer11 just registered as another user, pretended to be a first poster but a long time reader and then bagged on the mods, the members, and the Irish. Then he posted another post agreeing with NDOM LOL. Sorry, I deleted the posts already and banned the loser. Don't worry, the loser (he's from Michigan btw) has no life and he'll be right back to embarrass himself yet again.

Can you not IP ban him?

Not yet. For those who say the BCS is dead. If Stanford is #3 or #4 when we beat them to go to 9-3, being in the top 14 shouldn't be too difficult. I think we still have a chance.

Here's hoping...but if I were betting, I'd say not even if we win out, and stomp Stanford. If we were already in the top 25, maybe...How do you ascend to roughly the mid point w/o even being ranked in three weeks, with only one team that is potentially a top 25 win. Just doesn't add up for me.

Never have seen so much complaining after a win. Did anyone see 3-5 Northwestern win at 10th ranked Nebraska? Did anyone see Minnesota give Sparty all they could handle? Anyone see unranked Iowa beat Michigan. Anyone see unranked Texas Tech win at Oklahoma, only to get blown out thed next 2 weeks?

Nothing is guaranteed in this world. Take a win on the road against a pretty decent team and be happy! Its pathetic and sickening that not only do we have to win, but we have to look good, as if style points matter at all.

Maybe this was the wrong thread to put this but I have read alot of complaining about winning and maybe being ranked.

People, get some perspective.

We have not shown anything this year thats shows we have it takes to be ranked . While Kelly is getting there The whole you can tell who my recruits are thing was kinda spot on. If we were in any major conference as of right now we probaly not even be top 4 team in it. You need a identity to be great team whether it's offense , defense , Or a bunch of players that fit a system. Just not there yet my friends.

I am guessing you aren't a Brian Kelly fan? I don't really understand how Stanford is going to show that BK isn't a great coach...? ND might get beat by a already built and complete team with the heismen winning QB? Weis beating? lol no it won't be. You seem to be looking at Stanford as being on another level (LSU/Bama would destroy them), they hired the right coach to build there team, and gave him the time to do. But, you don't remember the awful years with Harbaugh, do you? Go take a look at Stanfords record before last season.

Also, yeah, we are pretty far from being elite. We don't have a QB that can run our offense. We don't have players that can hold our edges on defense. Our LB's are terrible in pass coverage.

But, it's year two of the coachs system. I know you believe that since it is ND, that we should have players growing from trees that are all-american everything, and a coach that can turn water into wine by singing the ND fight song.

Try being rational, and using some logic in your next post.

Exactly. I think we can all agree that Harbaugh's a hell of a coach (I hate him with a passion, but still) and Stanford gave him time to put together a team. Brian Kelly is also a good coach. If we give him time, he'll put together a good squad. At the moment, yeah, our defense is nowhere near LSU or Bama, but with the way the freshmen are playing and with the stellar defensive recruits we're pulling in, we're on our way.

The team is 6-3 with a 2nd year coach who doesn't have a capable QB yet. The team has issues, no doubt, but it'll take time to reverse this 15 year-old mess. The fact that you've already given up on the coach is laughable and says a lot to say the least. If Stanford had given up on Harbaugh after a year and a half, as you want to do, where would they be now? Ridiculous.

We are not 6-3 because of not having a capable QB. We are 6-3 because of all around sloppy play in our first two losses.

The problem I have with this Kelly-Harbaugh comparison is that (a) Harbaugh inherited far less talent than Kelly, and (b) Harbaugh upset USC in his first year, as a 41 point underdog. If I saw anything resembling that from Kelly's team performances, it would be easier to buy a Harbaugh/Kelly resemblance.

Well, we're #28 in the Coaches Poll right now, and I'm guessing we'll be 20-23 if we'e 8-3 going into Stanford. Wouldn't shock me if we moved up to 14 with a big win over them. Who knows though, we'll find out in a couple weeks.

I'm going to the Stanford game and I've been looking forward to it all year, but now that it's almost here....it's the last regular season game......we need a longer season.

We can beat 'em!! GO IRISH!!

How is USC ranked #18 in the coach's poll and not even receiving votes in the USA Today poll? Am I missing something?

They're ineligible to be in the BCS rankings, and the coach's poll is part of the formula for the BCS!!

Footnote on the USA Today Coaches Poll:
Because it is serving an NCAA-imposed bowl ban, Southern California is not eligible to receive votes this season under AFCA policy.

AFCA is the Coaches Association.

The AP Poll is done by sports writers. The AP doesn't have a similar policy.

Last time this was brought up the team did nothing against USC. Notre Dame does not deserve to be ranked any time soon

Agree. Though there are probably lots of teams that don't deserve to be ranked that end up in the 15-25 slots, so maybe we deserve it a little more than some other teams who also don't deserve it.

But still, this team seems to self-destruct every time expectations start to rise... I'm in no hurry for us to get a number in front of our name this year. Also think that a "back-door" BCS bowl wouldn't be the best thing for this program, rather see the Irish earn it next year.
