Any chance ND gets ranked this week?

I realize that the Irish didn't exactly play like world-beaters against Wake tonight. However, plenty of ranked teams got kicked to the curb, including some of the 19-25 set (e.g. WVU, ASU,). I can't see a team like UCLA at 5-4 getting into the top 25 just because they knocked off a ranked team. I'd say that there a chance that the Irish can get in their, not so much based on how well they played, but more because of other teams losing. I give the Irish 8 to 5 that they will be in the top 25 next week.

I doubt it this week but a nice win next week against Maryland could do it.

The problem is that your using logic to predict polls. The two are unrelated.

Honestly who cares if we are ranked or not? BCS is out of the question.

If they look at the record, see ND 6-3, and don't have anyone else, maybe.

If they actually WATCHED the game, then no, absolutely not.

We had between 1-7 votes in last weeks polls

Nebraska, Michigan, ASU, and WVU lost this week

Cincinnati won. So they might be in

I think there's a decent shot we jump in

Iowa could too

I wouldn't vote us in yet. We didn't play like a top 20 team...

...but I am enjoying this win!

We should not be ranked unless we beat Stanford. I argue against Boise State's high ranking all the time, so I'm not going to be hypocritical and say we should jump in just for beating crappy teams.

Win next week and definitely.

#18 Georgia vs. #22 Auburn
#10 Nebraska vs. #16 Penn State
#12 VT vs. #23 GT
TA&M vs. #17 K-State
#15 Michigan vs. Illinois
#17 Michigan State vs. Iowa
#21 Texas vs. Missouri
#9 South Carolina (who just got crushed) vs. Florida

#19 ASU just lost to UCLA
#15 Michigan lost again
#17 K-State lost

Lots of teams with 3 losses and going to get a third loss so we'll be in a GREAT position if we win.

was watching alabama/lsu at the same time...our game looked liked a high school game compared...no chance of us being ranked and we dont deserve it...not a top 25 team...wow, we have a long way to go

I agree ND probably should not be ranked. But what I find funny is most will say ND has won against not so good teams and have lost 3 games.

But look at Houston who has play absolutely no one of any importance but are ranked 14th. They are undefeated so I know that should mean something but I guess I feel you can't judge one team one way and not another the other way.

Most of the time ND plays at least 10 teams capable of making a BCS game, they always play Navy who has a long shot and sometimes they throw in Army or Air Force who have very long shots too.

Houston played one, UCLA.

Oh well though, let the chips fall where they may

Not yet. For those who say the BCS is dead. If Stanford is #3 or #4 when we beat them to go to 9-3, being in the top 14 shouldn't be too difficult. I think we still have a chance.

Notre Dame will have to build its case more on a win streak than by opening a can of whup ace. String together Navy, Wake Forest, Maryland and Boston College and that combined with losses in the top 25 could do it. That might be nice going into the Stanford game, and if Dame puts together a four-quarter effort without turnovers, they could win.

I guess I just don't understand this fascination with the BCS...

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but if we somehow manage a BCS game and end up against....

Oklahoma? Clemson?

How is that good? We'd be overmatched and potentially get embarassed

A lot of you have been saying that when watching the bama vs lsu game that we have a long way to go to be at there level. I think that is kind of obvious and I knew we would'nt be at this point this season. I think make a HUGE jump in 2013, we could do it next year but that schedule is pretty brutal.

Absolutely NOT! We don't even deserve to sniff the top 25. This is a VERY poor football team that could have lost to Wake Forest. And who in their right minds would want us to win out and play in a BCS?????? Whoever we would play would just absolutely A S S rape us and it would just be another embarrasment.

Oh, and fyi......Stanford is gonna WAX us. so there goes your BCS hopes.

No. 3-loss teams don't deserve to be in the BCS rankings until much later in the year. And we didn't play like a top 25 team last night.

Yep. Stanford is going to show how far Kelly is from being a great coach and this team from being close to elite.....very,very far. Stanford could be a Weis-level beating. It's depressing how far this team has fallen from being competitive in the Top 25.....sad...for years now,ND has become just another also-ran team while teams like Houston and others who never sniffed Top 25 EVER come up and take their spot. Sick of seeing it. Somethings gotta change....somethings got to change.

I am guessing you aren't a Brian Kelly fan? I don't really understand how Stanford is going to show that BK isn't a great coach...? ND might get beat by a already built and complete team with the heismen winning QB? Weis beating? lol no it won't be. You seem to be looking at Stanford as being on another level (LSU/Bama would destroy them), they hired the right coach to build there team, and gave him the time to do. But, you don't remember the awful years with Harbaugh, do you? Go take a look at Stanfords record before last season.

Also, yeah, we are pretty far from being elite. We don't have a QB that can run our offense. We don't have players that can hold our edges on defense. Our LB's are terrible in pass coverage.

But, it's year two of the coachs system. I know you believe that since it is ND, that we should have players growing from trees that are all-american everything, and a coach that can turn water into wine by singing the ND fight song.

Try being rational, and using some logic in your next post.

Maybe next week if other teams lose. But we won't be rank if we play like crap again like we did against WF. That was pathetic effort.

Areas of improvement ol and dl which is the most important. Areas in which we need to improve the most are punt returns and secondary.Nitro will help but Gunner will take us to to the next level. After LSU, OK, and ALA we can play with anybody, and we will beat Stanford. I know we looked slugish against Wake but we won,t lose again this year.We have to quit playing down to our competition.

Yep. Stanford is going to show how far Kelly is from being a great coach.

You're so right! It's just like in Jim Harbaugh's 2nd year when Charlie Weis showed the world that Harbaugh wasn't even close to being a great coach and never would be, when we beat his team for the 2nd straight year. And we all know how great Weis ended up, and how absolutely horrible Harbaugh ended up. Great point!!!

It's depressing how far this team has fallen from being competitive in the Top 25.....sad...for years now,

Agreed again! We all saw how bad we played against MSU, a top 15 team this year. We all saw how we got killed by Utah, #15 last year (wait, we won those games???). We are not competitive in the top 25!!!

ND has become just another also-ran team while teams like Houston and others who never sniffed Top 25 EVER come up and take their spot.

Yeah!!! Houston is like the best team out there. They've beaten like 5 top 40 teams this year. Either 5 top 40 teams, or zero, I can't remember which.

Sick of seeing it. Somethings gotta change....somethings got to change.
Unrealistic expectations from whiny, impatient fans is what has to change. The team is 6-3 with a 2nd year coach who doesn't have a capable QB yet. The team has issues, no doubt, but it'll take time to reverse this 15 year-old mess. The fact that you've already given up on the coach is laughable and says a lot to say the least. If Stanford had given up on Harbaugh after a year and a half, as you want to do, where would they be now? Ridiculous.

Just saw this post. See ya. Long time coming too.

Oh, and you're supposed to put a space after a comma, Einstein...

EDIT: That D-bag homer11 just registered as another user, pretended to be a first poster but a long time reader and then bagged on the mods, the members, and the Irish. Then he posted another post agreeing with NDOM LOL. Sorry, I deleted the posts already and banned the loser. Don't worry, the loser (he's from Michigan btw) has no life and he'll be right back to embarrass himself yet again.
