Do not go to the Walking Dead on the Facebook page. You can submit your questions for the Talking Dead via Facebook, but all the *******s who read the graphic novels type spoilers in there. Carl didn't get shot for another eight books, and I know one other big thing that I'm kind of pissed about. It's what the CDC guy whispered in his ear at the end of the first season--he even mentions it on his radio transmission to the missing black dude and his son. I got those from a five second scan of the Talking Dead tread on their wall. Don't say you weren't warned!

I think the best place to setup camp would be an aircraft carrier if you could get to one. Tons of weaponry and hardened surrounding with the ability to branch off from the land if needed, and they have food to last forever.

Rather be in a battleship. Though the downside to the battleship is you have to find bunker oil for the sucker because their prodigious use of fuel makes a Humvee look like a Prius.

Great first episode.

I was a little disappointed in the premier. I though hiding under cars would not work because can't zombies smell humans? In the first season they rub guts on themselves to blend in with the zombies and smell like them.

and then the last scene just didn't make any sense.

They covered this. They can smell humans but its not like they have super sense of smell. They can't sniff out humans 500 yards away. Its more like standing next to someone from another country.

I thought it was a combination of sight and smell though. Like, if they see you and yet you don't smell like them they know you aren't a zombie.

Also, the black dude (sorry I know, but I can't remember his name) gashed his arm, so even if they have an enhanced sense of smell, that blood trail would dominate their receptors anyway. They followed him almost immediately since he was seen by a walker right before he cut himself. As for the first round through, I can't explain it away. I said the same thing about them having to cover themselves in flesh, but it's just reading too much into it. When the zombie apocalypse goes down we'll have plenty of test data to examine and figure out how strong a zombie's sense of smell is.

****SPOILER****
The last scene where Carl gets shot was apparently from way way way in the future of the graphic novel series, but they played it off of him asking for a sign from God to let him know that he was right. He interpreted the buck as that sign, so he thought Carl should go see, and then, he was hit by a bullet that passed through the deer. Most likely the people from the previews of the next episode. They appear to have a farm and I'm sure they probably live off the surrounding land when possible.

Another solid episode this week. They really left us with quite a cliff hanger. The final scene this week is really intense.

Darryl is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. His good ol' boy know how is really being put to good use.

I love how the show is pushing the envelope even further this season.
Episode 1: Carl gets shot.
Episode 2: Blood and guts all over the baby-seat.(That was messed up! lol)

I am loving the direction this show is going in.I love it!

I'm still dying to find out what happened to all the dead people in their cars.
I do have a theory though: After the government realized they could do nothing about the zombies, they turn to chemical warfare to try and kill them, and use the civilians as casualties of war....

You should watch talking dead. The producer said they dont have specific speeds, but the "fresher" the zombies the faster they are. The longer they have been rotting they go slower.

I see, but still, they had to have been dead for awhile...

That makes perfect sense!

Not necessarily! Remember, the show didn't take a year break like us. And the "fresh" ones could have been recently turned colonists...

I mean, you have zombies scouring the earth. Anything is possible. ;)

There were hundreds though. They couldn't all be "fresh", and I know they didn't take a year break like us :eek:grin:, but I figured they had to at least be weeks and weeks old maybe just a few who weren't.

OR:

Maybe people were hole'd up somewhere like in the highschool and ran out of cafeteria food, besides sloppy joes.

And those with dignity ran, and lost.

There is one small problem I have with the show that is only just now getting relatively addressed. It has to do with scavenging. Only in this episode on the highway has the group really been doing any scavenging through the area. There has been ample opportunity to pick up lots of stuff along the way - mainly guns. I know the issue with the sound and everything like that, but the opportunity to pick up some of the military M4's lying around would be a huge benefit. Even if just for ammo compatability. Dale's .308 isn't going to be as plentiful in ammunition as the .223's of the National Guard and military.

Also, with Otis and Shane in the medical trailer, I know they were supposed to grab just what they needed and get out of there, but there were some very important things you wouldn't be able to pass up.

Thats just me. It is still an awesome show. Just a gripe of mine about a minor issue.

5.56, we're NATO ;) I agree, so much ammo and an assault rifle would allow them to pick off targets at a distance, especially since many of those M4s will have ACOGs and there are bound to be some sniper rifles. That allows them to clear an area before entering adn scavenging. The size and makeup of the group is a detriment at this point, however.

I would fortify the **** out of that farmhouse and have a mobile death machine. I understand they didn't have the time, but if they'd taken a 240B of a dead military guy, used that brilliant diversion to get to high ground, set up that machine gun on the edge and mow those zombies down, they could clear the rest of the area and scavenge in peace. Yea, there are always a million gripes I have too, but you just have to ignore them and enjoy the show!

5.56 for National Guard too? I didn't know that. Either caliber I would think would be easier to get than the .308. But yeah, you are right. You could also make homemade silencers using 2 liter soda bottles or other items that would negate some of the sound issue if you were sniping from distance. How about a nice MK19 for clearing clusters of the undead?

I'm with you about staying in place too. I wouldn't be roaming the countryside with minimal supplies. I would hunker down and fortify the **** out of a place like that. Build some "zombie" obstacles like tangle foot or ditches with spikes. Zombies aren't too coordinated.

On one of the blogs, someone pointed out how no one has thought to use a molotov cocktail. In the scene where Otis and Shane try to distract the horde with road flares, I would think a molotov would come in handy for use in their escape.

I try to ignore most of the gripes. Some are harder to ignore than others. The lack of scavenging was a big one. At least now the group is stocking up on supplies and auto parts.

Yea, the U.S. uses 5.56mm because it is NATO standard for assault rifles. Maybe National Guard are exempt until they're deployed overseas? I donno. Supplies, isolation but not too far from a stockpile of supplies, fortify, scavenge, survive. Procreate as well. That's included in surviving. :)

I'd wanna have a few M4A1's with SOPMOD and a couple Barrett M107's...those could definitely take care of business. Then heavily fortify your compound, with a ton of booby traps.

She deserves to be eaten like a juicy hamburger for being that dumb.
They've already wasted wayyy too much time looking for her...no chance that girl has survived.
