I just saw a comment that the new helmets are no longer painted. I liek the new helmet but I am not sure how I feel about that. It was a great tradition having the student managers painting the helmets.

In my opinion this is an improvement. The helmets had already changed from our olden days anyway. I was just watching a the 1991 usc game on versus and thought to myself, "Man! Now those look gold!" Our helmets (and pants) have looked like butter over the last decade. Time for a return to form.

The helmets are still painted just not by the managers anymore. The managers will be cleaning the helmets before they are painted.

Well, I really like the new helmets and if that means that the student manager painting tradition has to go by the way side so be it. I guess I just feel a little nostalgic from my days at ND.

Yea, the "the Irish will be wearing blue jerseys with gold pants" thing was just in reference to the pictures I believe. There's going to be a unique jersey.

I still think it is the traditional green and gold.

These new helmets look amazing, but I am really bummed that the students will no longer paint them. That being said, these are miles better than the old ones and are much better than some new jersey.

Kelly sure has been changing traditions this year. I haven't been to a game this year, but to those that have, what do you think of the new player's walk? Better or worse?
