Ok everyone here is the situation. A large group of friends get together every week to watch the game and potluck and have done so for the past few years.

One of my buddies, pictured below and also known as ND IRISHMAN on here, has a wedding for his close cousin on the 22nd (ND vs. USC). The wedding is at 5PM (Pacific Time) and he will not make it back to the house to be able to watch the game until around 9PM. He is asking us to record the game, do not watch any tv or get any score updates, then play it later in the evening as if we were watching it live. Not cool.

So I have been trying to come up with an awesome excuse for him to get him and his family out of attending this wedding but am looking for some suggestions. This is a huge game for the BCS hopes, night game and destroying USC so I want to experience it in real time.

Please Help!!

He's not getting out of his cousin's wedding. He better hope they have a TV at the bar during the reception. As for you, just watch the game. Its a big game, but stuff happens. We do play this game every year, not once a generation. I would never be able to sit around, not only doing nothing but actively avoiding the ND/USC game, knowing that it was going on, THEN start watching it knowing that the game is most likely over already. Sports suck unless they are live.

I feel like a close family member's wedding is legitimate reason to miss the ND game, especially since it will be recorded. What he could do is attend the wedding service and leave the reception early. That way he'll probably only miss 30 minutes, which I'm sure you and your other buddies could wait for (or you could watch it live and watch the first quarter during halftime).

Watch up on the show, The League. I'm positive you can get crazy-enough-to-work ideas from it.

He should have bitched to his cousin about the weddings timing a long time ago though...

I loved tonight's episode. "You have a problem, paint a swastika on it. Problem solved"

The soonest he could get here would be after the game is over probably. I think the game is just reason to miss a cousin's wedding, maybe not immediate family but a cousin maybe. I am gonna have to leave home and stay busy if we record it, because I couldn't just sit around waiting.

I think he is S-O-L unless his tires are somehow slashed prior to the wedding...hmm

Like I said, missing the wedding is a big deal, and could cause family problems. On the other hand, he needs to ask himself "Reception or USC game". A true ND fan knows the answer. Unless this is a non-Christian wedding that takes really long, he should be out of the wedding in an hour, 90 minutes tops. Which means he can easily get home in time, unless the 9pm arrival time takes into account travel time after him leaving immediately after the wedding. In that case, he's definitely SOL. There's no way I could prevent myself from watching.

You don't need an excuse.

Any family member that would unwittingly schedule their wedding for the same weekend as the ND/USC game...is not family in my book.

If you really need an excuse, I would send a note that says "I'm very sorry, but I can't attend your wedding because you are an idiot. Best wishes"

Ipecac(sp?), give him some to take right before the wedding. Only a spoonful though.

I can't imagine only going to the boring "exchanginging of the vows part" and NOT going to the open bar/prime rib dinner afterwards. Seems like you've got your priorities backwards to me. There will be a TV somewhere in the facility at the reception. Gotta track that down.

Very good suggestions, I mighty have to slip some Ipecac into a Grey Goose Red Bull for him or maybe some exlax. I agree what douche would schedule their wedding on any Saturday in the fall, let alone the ND USC game saturday, cmon man.

Maybe he will sack up and just tell them he cannot come because he has something important going on so he doesn't have to lie.
