so apparently, an appeals court has found her innocent and released her. She's from Seattle. I'm about to be stationed near Seattle... is it weird that I want to meet her?

BurritoBrosSh!t via Twitter:

Amanda Knox is probably just as shocked as us to hear that the Jersey Shore cast did not get arrested for murder of Italian Culture.

There's an old saying that the term "Italian Justice System" is an oxymoron.

Good for her.Glad to see her go free.
I'm scared to go to Italy, they can put you away for life for giving someone a bad stare.
Seriously though, their police and judicial system there is terrible. If you guys ever want a good read to give you an idea of how bad, check this book out by one of my favorite authors.

Sorry to disagree but I will disagree in CAPS-Italy is a wonderful country with a judicial system that works-the reason it works is because you dont want to be in jail in Italy. I played over there for 3 years and one day in Rome ask my Italian friend what old ruin that building was-it was the jail-enough said. They dont HAVE a crime problem in Italy because of this. The only crime related stuff is the mafia and they are left alone to run there business. They dont bother the gov and the gov doesnt bother them and in many case they have a better code of ethics than the polititions. I know what I speak about I lived there for 3 years. Dont know about this girls guilt-not my business but I do know the unbelievable bad conditions in jail there is a major deterent to commiting a crime. You dont come out of jail in Italy the building looked like something out of Papion.

Italian jails have been reformed dramatically over the past ten years. There are many worse, including those in the USA.

Back to Amanda Knox. It appears she and her ex-boyfriend didn't commit the crime. Happy they are now released. On I kinda side note, I don't understand why the media and everyone was all about her being locked up. Hell I just found out today she had an ex-boyfriend convicted of the same crime and in the exact same situation. Maybe I didn't read well enough, he may not have been from the USA.

Do you remember when the American jet fighter (I don't know if it was an F-14, F-15, or F-16) pilots were hot dogging around over Italy and they ran into a cable car wire? The cable car crashed to the ground and several people were killed. The pilots confiscated the tape when they got back so there would be no evidence. Then a U.S. court found the pilots not guilty of negligence, and they walked. Outrageous injustice IMHO. You think that wasn't on the minds of the Italians during this case? Do you think they were going to allow themselves to be pushed around by the Americans this time? I could be wrong, but I've always wondered if this case was a little bit about payback.

It wasn't a jet fighter. It was an EA-6B Prowler Electronic Countermeasures aircraft, temporarily based out of Aviano, Italy.

Not saying you should have known, just responding to your admission that you didn't remember what type of aircraft.

To the OP: So when you say you want to meet her, you're only talking about one or maybe two nights worth, right? She's an attractive girl. Nothing weird about that.

Yeh it was...not to mention they tried to arrest both authors for simply doing research on the subject.
@Irishtrain I appreciate the fact you lived there. I am sure it is a wonderful country, it looks beautiful. But the fact remains that the Italian authorities can do WHATEVER they want. They have no restrictions. They have held that girl over there for 4 years without a single shred of evidence, convicted her, and wanted her to spend life in prison with ZERO proof. To show how bad their legal system is, they don't sequester the jury.In fact, the jury convenes with the judge and they all discuss the cases together, and the judge gets to vote, TWICE! It is a ludicrous system, and unfortunately a lot of people get caught up in it.
@IrishHoustonian That's one example of how awful they are.

So wrongly convincting a young girl of murder as payback for an American jet crash is your idea of "justice"?

Well, that, and.........

apparently they also negotiated the right to put their hand up Hank Williams, Jr.'s a$$, and make him talk.

The Italian Supreme Court was quoted as saying, "NOW we are even!!!"

That is absolutely what I was talking about. Not going to lie, the uncertainty about whether or not she committed murder in Italy only makes her hotter. Also, the sense that injustice was done to her by a foreign country makes her a young American Hero.

*edit: not saying I would limit myself to one or two nights, that's just all I'm shooting for.

But the fact remains that the Italian authorities can do WHATEVER they want..

Yup, this situation reminded me of that book too. Italian prosecutors will go for the most sensationalized story out there and try to find evidence that fits it....hence the sex game gone wrong theory as the motive in Knox's original conviction.

The other thing I learned from MOF is that crime scene investigations are comically bad, as was the case with Knox. They caught an investigator on film, kicking in a window at the cottage for no apparent reason. They left evidence sitting around for weeks. They moved things around and poked the victims gashes with bare fingers.

Looks like I was wrong about what type of American aircraft it was. But, I'm sure the plane made it back to the AFB and didn't crash. And just about everybody with a normal brain knows you don't mess around in foreign countries if you are a foreigner. The only place you can commit crimes and get away with it is if you do it in America and especially if your an illegal Mexican. Other than that, there is usally going to be a lot of grief to pay. If Knox was a smart as she looks, you would think she would have known this. Also the fact that she is from the land of the whacky liberals (Seattle) makes me more suspucious of her. If she had been from, say, Mason City, Iowa or some such place I would be less suspicious.

Imagine being the parents of one of the 20 people that were killed because Marine Corps pilots were using your ski lift area to hot dog around and play games? And then, nothing happened to the pilots. The U.S. government basically told the parents of the 20 dead skiers to go stuff themselves. There was a recording of what happened, but it is my understanding the tape went missing--yeah right. I'd be pissed as hell if I were an Italian.

But maybe this had nothing to do with Amanda Knox. It was just pure speculation on my part.

You can't actually believe half of this crap you're writing.

You need to turn off Glenn Beck

I thought Glenn Beck went off TV about 2 months ago, but then, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

Endzone... I started responding to you until I realized it probably wasn't worth it. You are obviously living within your own magical world inside of your head.

For the record... the pill bottle read "2 pills every 8 hours"... not the other way around.

So... we're supposed to take from where somebody lives what their political leanings are... and from their political leanings, we are supposed to infer whether they are suspicious or, even, guilty of crime? I think "pure speculation" is a bit of an understatement. If there is any sense in this thread, I'm still looking for it.

Yes, yes, & yes. And we know that anybody that lives in Philly voted for Obambam. Just kidding, but you probably did.

Yes, I think Knox is guilty as sin. No, I don't fault the Italians for holidng her as long as they did--she probably deserved a lot worse. Most in this thread seemed to come down on the side that the Italians had unjustly held her and falsely accused her. I just disagree.

I'm not a pill popper--except Advil. But, I think it would really help if I got a job. It might still be possible to get a job in this economy even if you're a washed up 54-year-old like me.
