Where was Riddick tonight? I was pleased that Tommy spread the ball around between Floyd, Eifert, and TJ, but Riddick was a chalk outline.

1. Cierre Wood- He's awesome, I liked how they ways to get him the ball outside of running it.

2. Mike Floyd, loved how they shuffled him around. He needs to gets the ball 10+ times a game. When that happens, the defense gets all thrown out of whack.

3. TJ Jones. Love the way hes playing, hes got that speed burst. It looks like hes getting comfortable. He's going to be big the second half of the season.

4. Eifert- ND=TE U

5. The defense. Our front is awesome. Our LBs still make me nervous in coverage. I like the looks we gave when Purdue started picking our edges...dropping the DE in coverage. I'll have to say, the secondary still makes me nervous. We are a few recruits away from being a top 5 D, its awesome, 2012/2013 we are going to be NASTY on defense.

6. Jonas Gray- You cant help but love the way he's running.

7- Tommy Rees. He needed a game like this, as did the whole team, I feel like he grew a lot tonight. He's going to be pretty good by years end. Also, I don't get the weak arm argument some people make? I don't see it. He's got more then enough to be effective in all phases of the game.

8. Theo Riddick- He's too athletic to not be getting the ball in his hands. I still expect BK to put the lab coat on, and get to work drawing up plays designed to get him in space. He just isn't finding the windows..etc running his routes.

Great win for ND. They can't sleep on AF next week. They should beat them by 25 aslong as they limit the penalties/turnovers. Our defense is going to maul that option bullshit, I can't wait to see our our defensive front mangle AF's offensive front

I almost feel bad for Ricardo Allen. He was getting punked all over the field. My two favorites were Floyd telling him he was smaller with a smile on his face and Cierre jumping clear over him.

I'd love for that to be the explanation, but I doubt it. Purdue didn't aggressively take Floyd away; I'm not sure why they'd double Riddick and leave Floyd open.

I'd love for that to be the explanation, but I doubt it. Purdue didn't aggressively take Floyd away; I'm not sure why they'd double Riddick and leave Floyd open.

It might be a combination. I'm sure that Floyd is the first read on almost every pass play. And Floyd was open A LOT, tonight. So Tommy rarely would have had to progress to the second read. And maybe Riddick just hasn't become a polished route runner yet. I'd like to see NBC, being the flagship network of ND football, do a feature on it. Most ND fans are probably wondering why Riddick, AND Jones, haven't blossomed with the added attention that Floyd is getting. It would be a great feature, I think.

Gosh maybe I was drinking too much but I still only saw Rees throwing the ball to Floyd. TJ was minimal, Eifert minimal, and Riddick non existant. Floyd and the running game, that's all I saw. Could you imagine if Floyd wasn't on the field, what then would Tommy do?

Would you like him to ignore Floyd while he is open to spread the ball around? Why would you not throw him the ball. TJ and Eifert had decent games. He also his Cierre a few times

Tommy had 24 completions, 10 went to floyd. 14 were spread around. Floyd was open all day, he's the best reciever in football, why wouldn't you throw it to him? Man, Tommy Rees just can't win, can he?

Not at all saying don't utilize Floyd. The problem that I have is it seems that's all he utizes. Passes to Floyd and screens to the RB's. That's the majority of his throws. If it wins games thats find with me, more power too Tommy. But ND is not always going to play the mighty Purdue. Good teams will read this and Tommy will have to start using other options. The question is, can he? Because I have yet to see it. Biting my nails when USC comes into town. Especially with all of those recruits. Something tells me Mitch Mustain won't be behind center.

He's one of the best WRs in college football and was open. I'm not sure what else you want Tommy to do...

Why is there never any blocking for potential punt returns? I don't think i saw Goodman back there without at least four Purdue players surrounding him. I don't care who's returning, you can't return without at least some blocking.

Why is there never any blocking for potential punt returns? I don't think i saw Goodman back there without at least four Purdue players surrounding him. I don't care who's returning, you can't return without at least some blocking.

Exactly. It's hard enough catching punts, and even harder when you're surrounded by guys that will light you up if you drop it.

Not at all saying don't utilize Floyd. The problem that I have is it seems that's all he utizes. Passes to Floyd and screens to the RB's. That's the majority of his throws.

So you just pulled this observation out of your a$$, didn't you? If it seems like he only targets Floyd and the backs, then did you bother to go to any of the 10,000+ internet sites that post team and individual statistics, and look it up? Because I did, on the off chance that your a$$ was accurate, and here is what I discovered:

ND, as a team, has completed exactly 100 passes, this season. Rees has 93 completions, Crist has 7. Of those 100 completions:

35(35%) have gone to Floyd.

20(20%) have gone to Eifert.

16(16%) have gone to Riddick.

15(15%) have gone to Jones.

10(10%) have gone to Wood.

Taking into consideration that there is not a better receiver in the country than Michael Floyd, do these numbers really seem that unbalanced to you?

One thing about that is if you look at great punt returners and Im also a bears fan so ive watch hester, is that they always make the first guy miss and then get going, not saying im expecting goodie to do that regularly but he always, always gets tackled by the first guy, so gotta make the first one miss... he doesnt

Tommy played really well tonight. Got excited on a few throws and sailed them. My only concern is alot of his completions came off first read. Purdue is terrible so we were open, but this doesn't help much in his development of going through progressions. He did show it on the TD to Jones though. But a concern is better than a problem.

It's our blocking. Not even Hester could produce a decent return with the non-existent blocking our punt return team is providing.

Understand your point and agree about needing to make the first guy mis. However, you must agree that he needs some help back there...and the defernderS are bearing down on him. Great returns have a 1/2/3 seconds to make their moves vs catching and getting planted once you make the catch.
